White Veganism
This is a Work In Progress
The end goal of veganism is to get as many people as possible to eliminate or (at the very least) reduce the consumption of animal products; This extends out to everybody regardless of their skin color, gender, religion, political views, and so on. However as with many ideas, there are always groups that try to claim veganism for their own (e.g. the ones who claim mock meats are 'Plant Based Capitalism'), or ones exclude other groups from veganism. An unfortunate yet relatively common phenomenon, especially now in the vocal age of the internet that has given everyone a soap box with publishing platforms such as Medium to voice these desires to keep undesirables out of their ingroup.
The group in question when examining the concept of 'White Veganism' stem from a social justice background. Folks on the internet have always been complaining about Social Justice Warriors (SJWs); The politics of these people are none of our concern in regards to veganism; It deals with an entirely different issue in society. However, the politics of these people start to become our concern when they try to morph the whole concept to suite their own ends, especially when it involves trying to demonize certain groups of people based on something that they don't decide. In this case, it regards skin colour, and people of the white one.
Rationally speaking, you shouldn't associate an idea with an entire group based on the views and interactions with one person from that group, and instead base your thoughts towards that idea on its own merits. For instance, suppose you're a meat-eater who has never been exposed to any arguments in favour of veganism, hell, you have never even heard the word vegan. One day, you're in the shops and you encounter a young gentleman who is leafleting vegan pamphlets. Curious, you inquire about this 'veganism' which prompts him to inform you about the ethical, environmental, and health reasons of choosing a plant based diet. After skimming his pamphlets and discussing the issue, you start to become open to this 'veganism.' After a lengthy discussion, the young man also informs you that he is a member of the Flat Earth Society and is fervently believes that the Earth is disk-shaped. Now, what would your reaction be? Would it be 'Oh, I suppose some vegans have their share of silly views.' Or, would it be 'Oh man this guy thinks the Earth is flat??? Vegans are nutters! No way.' As explained earlier, the rational reaction would be the former, yet the psychology for many people tends to favour the latter.
