Veganism and Music

Ya like Cattle Decapitation?

In the current age with streaming, the music industry is nowhere near the profitable industry it once was, with each stream generating roughly a third of a cent from the most popular music streaming service, Spotify. However, that does not mean that there are absolutely no concerns with listening to artists who hold less than acceptable opinions, which still applies to animal rights. Even if the compensation is little, we should still be considering who we are supporting with the music we listen to (would you feel comfortable giving a dollar to an advocacy group for a cause you strongly disagree with?).

The majority of artists say little to nothing on animal rights, and with these types it's fine to listen to them freely. In many genres of popular music it isn't hard to find many vegan and vegetarian artists, especially as animal rights gradually becomes a more mainstream topic of interest. While it isn't necessary if you don't enjoy the music, if you do, it's encouraged to listen to artists that make a point of advocating on behalf of animals, and refrain from listening to artists who are known to act against animals.

In all likelihood, unless you make a concentrated effort to only listen to vegan artists, most of the artists you listen to aren't vegan or vegetarian; This isn't cause to boycott them at all, since we're more concerned about supporting artists that deliberately go against any efforts to extend animal rights, and you giving them money by listening to them is not going to make them buy more animal products. This isn't to be confused with artists that may do things that aren't friendly to animals, so while it may be unfortunate if an artist is an avid fisherman, or is hell bent for leather, these aren't very relevant here.
