Given AI's rising dominance in online content for better or for worse (generally it seems to be for worse), there are increasing concerns as to whether or not what you're viewing was created by a person or just generic garbage spewed out by an AI model.
Overall, we aren't anti-AI on this Wiki. As far as using AI for the Wiki or general educational purposes are concerned, we have no real objections to it, provided that it isn't just used to simply copy and paste whatever response is received after prompting the chatbot. Rest assured, no textual content on this Wiki is or ever will be AI generated, in order to maintain a sense of genuineness and humanity in our content, and to make sure it doesn't get lumped in with the increasingly large volume of slop that is being generated by talentless dullards who try to profit and gain attention by inputting as little effort as possible (thankfully, they usually aren't successful).
AI can be a very useful tool, and we do use it to help us write articles, but this is limited to it being more of an advanced search engine: generating topical ideas, research, and pulling up scientific papers (which are all manually reviewed). On top of that, AI very often gets things wrong, especially when you go deeper than surface level knowledge, and hallucinations are still pervasive (though this has been steadily declining with newer models), and on topics of philosophy and ethics, it's all over the place as far as accuracy goes. All information received from ChatBots is double checked for accuracy.
As stated on the Wiki's main page, articles on this Wiki reflect the consensus reached by members of the Philosophical Vegan community, of which no AI has ever been a member of (as far as we know).
This also extends to AI generated images. Early on when AI imagery was coming about, we did consider utilizing AI images for our pages, but given how overused they are, we've decided against it, and will only use stock images, files available via Wikimedia, and images we create/photos we take ourselves. While AI images have improved massively ever since they first became public, they're still pretty garbage, and currently don't have much use beyond being novelties or ideas for art. AI can also be useful for data visualization, but currently there are better tools for that, but we might be a bit more flexible on this front.
We reiterate, all content on this wiki is, and will be, created by a human. It's surreal we're actually saying something like that unironically completely outside the context of a sci-fi novel, yet here we are (Ten years ago the best we had was freakin' Cleverbot). Our position on this may be subject to change over time as AI evolves, either loosening our guidelines or doubling down on them, but as it stands, this is our official policy.
