Plant based protein absorption rates and food labeling
This is a pretty simplistic thing but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere when I try to search for it. Does anyone know when you purchase plant products if they already take into account that you only will absorb 80 percent or 60 percent of the total protein so instead of writing on the label how much protein is in the food, do they just label it with how much protein you will absorb from the food or how much protein is literally inside the food?

Most likely how much is in the food since absorption depends on other factors, such as the other foods with which you are eating the food in question. As far as daily recommendations go, these are higher than what our bodies actually need, so as to cover for factors such as absorption..

I'm into working out so I'm trying to see how much I need to eat. I've been getting discouraged from working out because I'm unsure how much protein I really need due to all the confusion and miss information out there. Got any sources saying that the meat and dairy industry is trying to tell us we need more protein then we actually need or that we just don't need as much as a lot may believe?

I don't know the ideal amount of protein for hypertrophy, endurance and/or strength training and I doubt anyone does. However, there is nothing indicating that a high amount of plant protein is harmful so I just try to consume plant based food with a high protein content. I weigh 85 kilos and get a minimum of 100 grams per day, sometimes as much as 150. I doubt anything above that would give me any extra gains, but even if that were the case it's uninteresting since I would never consume animal products

I completely agree that extra strength or muscle gains does not justify animal cruelty. Jus wondering if protein is overrated or something.
