I'm not sure if Halloween is going to be a thing this year or not, but I suppose costume masks make the cut.
I haven't gone trick or treating in about 8 years (I'm where Hurricane Sandy hit and Trick or Treating wasn't really an option at that time) and I kinda just stopped doing it after that. Given that, being a vegan on Halloween was never really a concern.
There are some things vegan parents can do when their kids bring home non-vegan candy such as giving it away when new trick or treaters come, but I'd say that even though you didn't pay for it, it's still probably not a good idea to eat it since eating it instead of giving it out would probably cause kids to go out and get more of that candy.
You can also just ask the people giving away the candy to not give anything with milk or eggs because your child is allergic to them (even if they aren't) since telling them you only accept vegan candy makes you kind of seem like a prude and not a fun parent. I'd be careful with this strategy though.
If you wanna be sure, here's a list of vegan candies:

Also check out this wiki page of non-vegan candy ingredients:

What do you guys do on Halloween? I mostly just sit at home and play Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare and eat pumpkin seeds (Bob's Red Mill, it's too much work to actually get a pumpkin and carve it) to keep with the tradition.

The trouble is that people giving out the candy have no idea what's in it because they didn't make it and have never read the ingredients, and then there's always gelatin if you get gummies.Red wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 12:10 am You can also just ask the people giving away the candy to not give anything with milk or eggs because your child is allergic to them (even if they aren't) since telling them you only accept vegan candy makes you kind of seem like a prude and not a fun parent. Specifically asking for a particular candy or candies you know are vegan (like dum dums or sour patch) is probably a better strategy.
I think this is why parents of kids with allergies tend not to do this. They either ask for only non-food treats, or do the switch witch, or just skip it and do their own candy Halloween thing at home.
There's some "teal pumpkin" stuff on facebook, might be some good suggestions on there but I don't use facebook.

I'm out of AOL disks for my Compaq computer where I'm logged in.
My login info is in a file called "password.doc", but all of my floppy disks are full so I can't copy it over to another computer. The password is more than five digits long, copying it manually would be an impossible task.

Are you still using Netscape? Are you on dial-up? How's your Geocities doing? You still use Hotmail?brimstoneSalad wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 12:08 amI'm out of AOL disks for my Compaq computer where I'm logged in.
