I don't think Hamon has a very good chance of winning at this point.

There is still hope if we can organize the working classes to rise up and seize the means of production, topple the 1% and install Hamon as the supreme leader of Socialist France.

So.…not a very good chance.

I switch between optimism and pessimism on a regular basis, but I appear to be pessimistic today as I agree with you. :(

Polls in the first round were pretty much dead on, Marine's performance in the debate was horrendous, hacked emails aren't being reported, this picture captures the opinion polls, 'Not Given' will likely stay home, there is no mass popular appeal for Le Pen or to give the system a kicking, just for many to stay home because it's so distasteful to vote in the banker against worker rights:

Macron appears to have won. I am pleased because he is the candidate who was endorsed by our lord and saviour Benoit Hamon, so he must be the right one. God's speed, President-elect Macron.

Yeah, I wasn't really worried at all that Le Pen would win. While at one point she was likely to beat Macron in the first run, he's always been projected to beat her in the second one by a large margin - extremely large. He won in an extremely substantial amount; he as about twice the amount of votes as Le Pen. That's WAY beyond decisive. That's astounding. So, France is rejecting right-wing extremism. :)

I don't know anything about Macron to be honest, I don't follow French politics much. The extent of my knowledge of France is the phrase "I am an apple, yes yes bread" and the fact that they have a parliamentary system. I heard that both Macron and Le Pen are outside of the normal French main parties, though, so the anti-establishment and populism surge is real in France. Just not the right-wing populism.
