Are bikini click bait thumbnails obligatory?

A large number of "what I ate in a day" videos by women vegans feature a thumbnail of a very fit woman, presumably the person posting the video although it's not always easy to tell, in a bikini or yoga pants. Did the International Vegan Conspiracy (InVegCon) mandate sexy thumbnails for what are often extremely boring videos? (I much prefer a good recipe video.) Or are bikini thumbnails just a very effective meme*?

*In the original sense of the word meme, a self replicating idea.

I think it's just attempts at marketing, under the "sex sells" mantra.
