vegetarian trying to go vegan!

Post by eli.wolf »

Hey I am a new member!
I was really excited when I heard about this group because i have been looking for a place to talk to other vegetarians and vegans to kinda help motivate me to go full vegan.
I watch a lot of youtube and I honestly can not watch most of the vegan youtubers it makes me crazy!
I found this site while watching unnatural vegan and thought I would join. So it is nice to meet you all!

Welcome to the forums!

Most vegan youtubers, sadly, are highly irrational and not worth watching.

Where do you come from? What is being vegetarian like there?

Are there any questions you have about going vegan?

I try to avoid eating out, not only because it's hard to get vegan food but also because it's generally less healthy than eating at home.

https://www.happycow.net/ is helpful in finding vegan(friendly) places to eat. Many restaurants have vegetarian options that can be made vegan quite easily. Otherwise you can just ask them if they can make something off the menu. It's often awkward, but I've never had a restaurant tell me they can't make me anything vegan.

If you really can't make eating out work, consider just being flexible. Eat vegan at home, try to get something vegan when eating out, and eat vegetarian if you can't. You don't have to be 100% percent vegan all the time (in fact, it's impossible to be).

Welcome Eli, I hope you like it here!

miniboes already said it; happy cow can help finding a vegan friendly place, but restaurants will almost always make you something if you ask. Even a steak place has baked potatoes (hold the butter and cheese), but a great go-to option is Taco Bell, which is available across the U.S.

I don't always agree with Peta of course, but they have a good article on veganizing Taco Bell here:

Hey!

Gotta say, Taco bell is great! They will put potatoes or beans in anything! (And if the hot-sauce isn't Vegan, I don't want to know. Diablo on beans is awesome!)

Welcome!
