I'm curious, did people choose the words Cis and Trans because of the unsaturated links in molecules?
Cis in chemestry means when the atoms at each end of an unsaturated link both go to the same level, and Trans is when they end up in different levels. So it kinda makes sense, since Cisgendered is someone who is totally ok with the gender they're born with, and Transgendered is someone who is not.
Is that why they chose this words? Or is there another reason?

That's interesting. Did you read that somewhere or just observe it?

Re: Cis & Trans?
Chemistry chose those words for the same reason as the people who coined the terms cisgender/transgender. They are both derived from the latin root words: cis, and trans. Cis means "on this side", and trans means "across".Mateo3112 wrote:I'm curious, did people choose the words Cis and Trans because of the unsaturated links in molecules?
