I'm specifically starting this thread in the Fun section because it is meant as a silly thought experiment, not a real political argument. (It's o.k., drop the pitchforks!

) I only thought of this because I cannot call myself a Democrat or a Republican, nor a Liberal or a Conservative. My views on all subjects are considered independently. I HATE

that we only have 2 choices. (I know there are more parties, but I'm talking generally and realistically. Either a Democrat or a Republican WILL get elected. If you disagree, I'm giving 1000:1 odds, place your bets now.

)
So here goes. Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump were both considered to be fringe candidates. Yet, amazingly, both have surged waaay past media expectations. This leads me to believe that America is really just tired of "Politics as usual" Check this box if you agree more with R, this one if you agree more with D.
Now the really interesting thing is that both of these guys, love 'em or hate 'em, are causing major rifts in their parties. This time last year, it was going to be Clinton vs. Bush. (Again

) Now? Trump is tearing apart the republican party

, and Bernie is tearing apart the democrat party

. Does this mean the whole two party system is falling apart?!!
Sadly, I don't think Bernie will get the nomination.

Hillary is very popular, and more deeply involved in the current "dynasty" of politics. If she were to win the Presidency, that would allow both parties to "begin the healing process" and solidify again. "Everybody play nice, we all want to get re-elected" Now for the interesting supposition.
What if Trump wins?

Think of all the ignorant things he will try to do. Do you really think they will succeed? Repubs said Obama was gonna take everyone's guns and ban Christianity for his Muslim overlords. The President only has so much power, but yes, he could do some really stupid things. And the more stupid, the more it would tear apart the parties, especially the Republican party. Bernie doesn't seem like a quitter, but his views are not main-stream Democrat either, so there would likely be a power struggle in the Democratic party, possibly splitting it up as well.
So here's my main query. Would it be likely that a Trump Presidency might actually break apart the current two-party system we have, and if so, would it be worth it? And please, this is a thought experiment, so throw in other variables to make it more interesting!
