It seems to me that some features such as making a signature are closed at a newbie stage how do you get past that?

You have to make a certain number of posts to get past newbie, I think to get to junior member you have to get 51, and full member is 101.

Here are the number rankings, I think:
0-51- Nooooooooooooooob
52-101- Junior
102-299- Full member
300-500- Senior
501-999- Master In Training
502-1000- Master
2500- God
2501+- brimstoneSalad

Signatures are, in fact, available to newbies. I am a newbie and have a signature, just go to your profile- edit profile- edit signature and there you go. Remember to think of something cool

Actually I think that "Senior Member" already starts at either 250 or 251.
