I have an interesting question for you vegans. Would / do you work for a place that serves meat? If you had no job and were offered a job at a place like a pizza place ( like where I work) a butcher shop, a steak house, or sushi restaurant or anywhere they serve meat as a main course for their product, how would you feel about working there? Would there be justifications for a Vegan working at such a place? Would you be willing to serve meat to others, even though you believe eating meat is morally wrong or unnecessary? Interested in hearing your thoughts on this one.

I work in a restaurant where they serve meat but at the same time I'm looking for a job in a vegan restaurant. If it's my only job I don't really have a choice to work there and I'm not the one who buy the meat.

No, never. Only if there weren't any other job options at all. My roommate isn't vegan, and just having to share the fridge with him drives me nuts since he stuffs it full of animal products.

Imagine how disgusted you would feel working in a Chinese restaurant that prepared and served dog meat. That's comparable to how I would feel working in a regular steak house^^

I'm pretty sure there are a few starter/low wage/par time/full time jobs for vegans.

Examples:
Stocking shelves (except for some freezer items)
Amusement Park Ride Operator
Lifeguard
Maybe Youtube?
Accountant

why am i making a list of jobs

I am not vegan, but I personally don't like that the job I have (Burger joint) serves meat and absolutely NO vegetarian options. I just don't like being a part of that kind of thing. But I have to work there because I need the money and can't find a place that is willing to pay much more than minimum wage.

I mean, granted, stocking shelves and stuff like that is much better than most fast food places, but to be honest not by much. While working at a burger joint, you sell individuals burgers, when working at a market you are still involved in the sale of beef, chicken, fish, eggs, dairy, and the like, all in bulk, so you are probably contributing to MORE harm by stocking shelves than by flipping burgers or filling tacos.

So the best place to work would either be at a vegan restaurant, or a vegan store, possibly a store that only sells clothing (if you don't mind sweatshop labor)? An art supply store (ignoring many animal products used there as well)? If you want a job free of any animal suffering, you are going to really have a hard time.

I wouldn't have an issue with working with meat nor with killing animals. I just wouldn't eat it, that's all

I think it would have to depend on their options. Everybody has to pay rent. If someone has skill in the food industry, and tried to get a job in my area of the country, they would be looking a looooong time. It would be different if they opened a hot-dog stand, but if people only worked for people they agree with on all topics of morality, un-employment would be much higher than it already is.

Like I said, I wouldn't eat it. I am just a vegan that does not have animal sentience as a list of priority for being vegan, nor regard animal live as sacred as if killing one is a punishable sin... I don't eat nor regard animals as valuable for us humans, but that is as far as I will go, I ain't vegan for them.

It seems you misunderstand the definition and purpose of veganism; it is to prevent unnecessary animal suffering, not just to arbitrarily and dogmatically not eat/use them.

If you are willing to kill an animal or cause it to suffer for no reason, but just won't eat it, that's not vegan.
It is vegetarian, however (vegetarians can hunt or kill animals for fun, or for no reason, they just can't eat them).
