Lightningman_42 wrote: Sun May 07, 2017 5:04 pm I think it would be good to leave a comment for him, inviting him to come onto the forum to discuss this topic. Is there anything else that I should do? If he declines a request to come onto the forum to discuss this topic, is it worth it trying to persuade him? Or would it better not to pursue the matter further?
If he won't discuss it, then just talking about it and criticizing him for the view is probably appropriate.
Lightningman_42 wrote: Sun May 07, 2017 5:04 pm *The post he made on May 7, 2017; at 1:13am. The second comment on the comic here is "Thats the antinatalist's argument." VS then responds to it.
What did he say?
So there was a comment on the comic:
तेजस आनंद गोखले" wrote:Thats the antinatalist's argument.
The first response to this is:
Vegan Sidekick wrote:Too many unwanted dogs / cats in shelters, too many livestock causing pollution, and those animals will suffer and be killed - solution - don't breed them. That is the vegan solution and what we're all campaigning for. But trollolol try suggesting there is an issue with breeding humans and you're in for a rough ride because personal choice, it's my right, stop judging me, each to their own, omg don't have kids then but keep your views to yourself, we're not overpopulated and never will be because the earth is infinite and so are its resources so how can we ever overpopulate, healthcare isn't overburdened, waiting lists are fine, classroom sizes are ideal everywhere, there is no traffic, pollution or waste whatchu talking about also my child will be special and exist in a bubble and cause literally no damage whatsoever, only do charity work from within the bubble so they HAVE to be born. Also you drive a car antinatalist hypocrite.
So I'm not sure if this little rant by Vegan Sidekick was intended to have one single point, or if he's just venting about multiple frustrations. It looks like he's listing bad arguments against antinatalism, as if to suggest that either:
1. There are no good arguments against antinatalism, which demonstrates this ideology's moral validity.
2. The presence of bad arguments cancels out the validity of any and all good arguments (fallacy fallacy). I think this is what Anon tried to do.

Of course, not all of Vegan Sidekick's fans agree with all of his views. As it turns out, some guy already expressed concerns, asked Vegan Sidekick to elaborate on his position, and invited him to this forum:
Erik van der Meulen wrote:Hi Vegan Sidekick, I'm a longtime fan of your work. I like how well your comics demonstrate the absurdity of defending animal abuse, and I think that this likely makes you a very good advocate of veganism. However, since I care about good advocacy, I have some concerns about you promoting antinatalism (both in principle and in practice). I'd like to invite you to share your views on antinatalism on the Philosophical Vegan Forum*. There is a substantial conversation thread on this topic that you might be interested in, with many arguments for and against human procreation. Please let me know if you are interested in reading this thread, sharing your thoughts on it, conversing with the PVF's members, or with me. If you want to discuss this specifically with me, then I'd still prefer to do so on the PVF. I don't like having debates within FB discussion sections. The PVF has a much better format for debate.

Seeing as how Vegan Sidekick has now been challenged on this topic, and invited to our forum, I guess that means that I don't need to go and do so as well. Don't know if Erik will get a response, but hopefully he does. I hope we get Vegan Sidekick on our forum soon...

Sometimes more invites can help, from different people. Not necessarily more from the same person though.

I don't see a problem with Vegan Sidekick's antinatalist views. Sure, they might turn off a few pronatalist potential vegans, but they could might as well attract antinatalist non vegans to veganism.

In the end, the guy could probably be a Nazi without doing too much damage to vegansim, as long as his comics continue to be spot on.
How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:
1.Watch Forks over Knives (Health)
2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)
3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.
