I'm not sure if the movie came out already. The books been around for a while, I just haven't read it yet. It would probably make a shitty movie if it uses slow zombies. The reason I haven't watched more than one episode of The Walking Dead is how am I supposed to be scared of a zombie slowly lumbering in my direction? Sloths have bad-ass claws, but I've never heard of anyone being attacked by one. "Oh no, a zombie! Let me finish this sandwich then I should start slowly walking in the other direction before it gets me! Ahhh! "

I haven't seen that show, is it good? Come to think of it, the only things I watch on TV are National Geographic, The Science Channel, ATHF, and South Park.

Hey guys, I read this NPR article about how BMI is bullshit:
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/stor ... =106268439
Is this article true or bullshit? I did some google searches on some of the claims, and I can't find any real sources about them.
But reason 7 was pretty much an appeal o the stone, some of them like 10 aren't really a reason, and were just there so it can be "10 reasons". Some of them are just baseless assertions with no sources ( at least none that I can find).

But anyways, do you guys think that this BMI is false thing was to go along with the fat acceptance movement?

That's disappointing, no, NPR is not a good source. That's actually one of the worst articles I've ever read, it's bullshit written by a complete moron, apparently.

BMI is very useful, as the CDC quote in that article indicates (to anybody who is not a conspiracy theorist).
It's not 100% because people can have varying amounts of muscle mass and it can report wrong for athletes (a rare exception, it's great for 99% of people), but it's still generally useful. Waist circumference may be a better metric, and is often used in combination with BMI, along with blood markers (LDL, triglycerides, blood pressure, fasting glucose).

The amount of face palm in that article... so mind numbingly stupid.

So NPR is bullshit? Because I always listen to in on the radio in the car. Should I stop listening to it altogether?

So your BMI can give you a general idea of your body type, but can be slightly off due to shit like muscle mass? Funnily enough, I actually went to the doctor this morning for my annual check up, and when they weighed my brother (who is pretty fucking shredded), and the doctor said that when he entered his weight, is said that he was overweight, and it's probably due to his muscle mass.

Do you think that the guy wrote it because he was just retarded, or for the notoriety? I heard the radio segment, and it's a British guy who probably clanks his wine glasses with other morons of his pseudoscience expertise and claim that they are superior.

The radio may be better than their site, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Yes. It's rare to be far off though.

Did they measure his waist circumference?
Doctors usually aren't quite that incompetent. They probably used multiple metrics.
Unless you're taking steroids, muscle usually comes with quite a bit of fat too.

I couldn't guess at his motives.

But I think this article was from a radio segment.

Don't think so.

Woops, I forgot to mention that the computer said he was overweight, not the doctor. The doctor put in the form that he has the physique of a Greek God.

I don't think he's using steroids. Not yet at least. Later, maybe.
