Re: Ready for any new releases?
Anyone interested in the Nintendo Switch? I think I'll get it for Christmas later this year. That's around the time of Super Mario Odyssy, right? Right.

I'm not sold on it at all. All I know about it is from this, though:RedAppleGP wrote:Anyone interested in the Nintendo Switch? I think I'll get it for Christmas later this year. That's around the time of Super Mario Odyssy, right? Right.

I'm quite happy being a pc gamer.

I agree. I think gaming on your PC or smart phone makes the most sense in terms of using the hardware you have. This is just another piece of plastic and electronics.miniboes wrote: I'm quite happy being a pc gamer.
However, console gaming has a few benefits. Mostly, it helps you psychologically separate a work and play place. Some people have trouble focusing on their computers when they use them for fun too.
Sometimes you might have to buy a console, too, if a game you want to play is exclusive.
Red, are there any exclusive games in particular that are attracting you to the platform? Just Super Mario Odyssey? And is it worth it for a single game?

So essentially because computers and phones are more powerful in terms of hardware?brimstoneSalad wrote:I agree. I think gaming on your PC or smart phone makes the most sense in terms of using the hardware you have. This is just another piece of plastic and electronics.
Well not just that, there's also a new Legend of Zelda game, and an updated version of Mario Kart 8. There have not been many games teased yet, so I'll wait to see what else they release. Generally, they release a set of games for each generation, (e.g. ever generation has it's own Mario platformer, kart game, side scroller, etc) so those are what I'm expecting from the switch.brimstoneSalad wrote:Sometimes you might have to buy a console, too, if a game you want to play is exclusive.

I never buy a system for a single game, because that just sounds like a waste of money. Before I buy a console I write down a list of games I'm interested in, and I usually see if there are any other games that will come out within the console's lifetime. I currently play the Wii U, and have like 8 games I wanna add to my library.
Now let it be known that I fricken' love Nintendo. I've owned most of the Consoles at one point or another, and have enjoyed them very much. But I do agree that PC is vastly superior. The only reason why I buy the consoles if for the games; a friend of mine tells me I should get a ROM hack or something, but I'm pretty sure that's illegal. Nintendo seems to be shifting over to Mobile gaming (which I don't take part in), and I figured that maybe they should set up a platform for Nintendo games on PC. I think it would make a bit of sense, since the Wii U didn't really do that good, and the Switch has received such a mixed reception.
Anyways, anyone else wanna weigh in on this?

Mostly because you're going to have a Pc either way, whether you use it to game or not.RedAppleGP wrote:So essentially because computers and phones are more powerful in terms of hardware?brimstoneSalad wrote:I agree. That is something of an issue. I have two computers (a cheap laptop for school and a desktop pc for heavy lifting) which solves that for me. It's also much cheaper to buy two computers than it is to buy a laptop with the specs required to play games and do graphic design, video editing etc.brimstoneSalad wrote:I agree. I believe it is completely legal if you own the games.RedAppleGP wrote:The only reason why I buy the consoles if for the games; a friend of mine tells me I should get a ROM hack or something, but I'm pretty sure that's illegal.
If you can play hacks for recent releases on PC, I'd do that instead.

Eh, Nintendo isn't too fond of ROM Hacks and emulators for some reason.brimstoneSalad wrote: I believe it is completely legal if you own the games.

And by the way, what do you mean by if I own it? Like I buy the game disc then emulate it on my PC? That sounds fair.

Doesn't matter, if you own it they can't do anything about it.RedAppleGP wrote:Eh, Nintendo isn't too fond of ROM Hacks and emulators for some reason.brimstoneSalad wrote: I believe it is completely legal if you own the games.

Correct. Buy the game disc, then download the rom as your digital copy and run it on your PC.RedAppleGP wrote:And by the way, what do you mean by if I own it? Like I buy the game disc then emulate it on my PC? That sounds fair.

If I am not mistaken, the Nintendo Switch will allow you to play every Nintendo game on the go, plus some others from third parties (KH3 is on my list). Thoughts and opinions?
