What? Eating out of dumpsters!? I thought I'd heard all of the idiotic jokes/stereotypes about vegans, but I've never heard this one. I guess I'm really bad at being vegan, because I've never pulled anything out of a dumpster!

I've also had jobs while vegan; I guess I'm an anomaly!

Furthermore, what's this nonsense I keep hearing about vegans "forcing" anything upon nonvegans? I don't get how that's even possible. If it were, everyone I know would be vegan by now...

I'm arguing with this person who, no matter what I say, says that "food is food".

The boxes are there to distinguish between parts of the conversation (I didn't include everything in-between).

Ughhhhhhhhhhhh

Hahaha, this is pretty fun...

For context, what happened was that these people were acting like I care more about non-human animals than humans. They also said that pro-choice vegans are hypocrites.

Then, they asked me if I supported abortion for elephant fetuses, for research, or something, and I said that providing they aren't sentient that I wouldn't have a problem with it. This was also the stance I told them I had for human abortion.

Then, they said, "AHA, you support wiping out endangered species!"

Well it's in a meme, so I guess that closes the argument.

I find that any time I complain about the occasional arthritic flare up in a joint,(hereditary) Someone automatically says "it's because you don't eat meat", or if I sneeze or sniffle (I have a very sensitive nose) again, "it's because you don't eat meat".
These remarks have always come from someone who is overweight and has a health condition, or another who is a heavy drinker/smoker. You don't hear me saying their health problems come from eating meat, (in some cases it kinda does) It is ignorant and rude and pisses me off.

Ugh, sometimes I loose faith in ppl.
I met a guy who was from another place in Europe.
I thought that he was so understanding and I really liked him.
He was an atheist and he is into science, which made me think "hmm this guy must be rational"..nope..

After a conversation he said that he didnt like religious people (because they promote their beliefs out on the streets) AND he didn't like vegetarians/vegans (for the same reason).
He then said "So I hope u're not a vegetarian/vegan"...And I just got SO disappointed..-_-

I tried to understand him, but it's so fucked up. How can someone compare religion to veganism??? How??? They are just so addicted to meat that they blame vegans for being "mad" or "irrational" like christians people who believe in a man sitting somewhere in the sky judging us.

He also said "real men eat meat"...I just thought..."Real men" are Rational..real men don't just close their eyes to the truth. That's stupid.
Because that makes them similar to religious people, who just close their eyes/minds and refuse to look another way.

Well, like I've said in one of my posts, just because one person has a somewhat rational philosophy, doen't mean they are rational full circle (well, when it's all boiled down, no one is rational 100%), that would be an invalid inference. Some people think that since they are "rational" in a certain area, and they have they ability to be arrogant and trick themselves into thinking that most, if not every philosophy they have is rational. Just saying.

Well having a distaste for religious folk just because an infinitesimally small minority go out and preach it in the streets is, well, for lack of a better and non-redundant word, retarded. And applying that to other people is just illogical. And after hearing that nonsense that he spouted, (that nonsense being "So I hope u're not a vegetarian/vegan") must've been a huge kick in the balls (the opposite applies to you if ya' know what I'm sayin  ) And you've had every right to be dissapointed. Well, it's always the person you'd least expect..

Yeah you can't reason or even begin to understand those type of people. Like I said, it was stupid of him to compare veganism to religion due to one small similarity they had that had little to nothing to do with the philosphy itself. Now thinking about it, it's an arbitrary reason to hate someone due to stuff like that. And you're 100% right about the meat and christianity statement, or at least what I interpreted from it. Some people are so delusional that they can't see the error in their actions, let alone see how similar it is to the one's they despise so much.

Well we all have our own interpretations of the claim " real man" but from the looks of it society claims it is a male who shows dominance and courage and gets the most females of the pack. Imagine if society came up with a "real woman" definition. Pretty sure "making husband/male significant other sandwiches, watching offspring, and cleaning the house would be in there. But that's just me. Society is stupid enough on it's own, so it's best not to give it ideas. And yes, a good amount of meat-eaters deny the evidence, which obviously shows how in the wrong they are. They just don't feel like changing their life-style, like global warming deniers, or FOX news to be blunt.

Well I know it sucks to see the real person in someone, but I'm pretty sure you'll find a guy like 600% better than the guy you met. You still have what like 70 years to find one? I'm pretty sure someone will have more in common with you and is more welcoming to opposing viewpoints.
