I think that the best approach would be to show up at the house with a bunch of great tasting vegan food and later politely refusing to sit at the table while meat is being consumed. Very few meat eaters are receptive to the vegan message while having their mouths stuffed with dead animals although they may be before or after eating. Refusing to eat at the table (if expressed as politely as possible) is a stance that will not go unnoticed and would most likely further the began message.

Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.
