I completely agree. Consumption of nonsentient animals (like bivalves), and consumption of freegan foods (like roadkill and recently-expired dumpster meet) should be accepted as legitimately vegan things to do. Veganism is a moral philosophy, not a diet, and there's no good reason to view the aforementioned foods as immoral (as long as their production/acquisition does not involve avoidable harm towards sentient animals).EquALLity wrote:Welcome to the forum!
Do we need an alternative term for vegans who eat bivalves? I think bivalves should just be considered vegan, and making a term specifically for vegans who eat bivalves almost seems to accidentally imply they aren't really vegan.
The same thing could be said about freeganism, really.
Though I might just be overthinking this.
