Other misc concerns:

He mentioned rights a few times, and that's problematic; I don't think he has a sound notion of what morality is, and it's rational basis. He refers to Harris quite a bit, but his work in itself isn't very rigorously defined either.

Not everything requires "bootstrapping", and he's suggested morality and logic do and are just arbitrary premises we have to accept; I don't agree with that, and I think that speaks to his weak foundation in moral philosophy. This probably goes a long way to explain a number of his contradictions throughout the video.

He doesn't seem to be quite decided on whether he's a deontologist or consequentialist; like most people, he seems to jump back and forth, and that's not necessarily very useful to something like this.


Knot, if you're on youtube, please feel free to invite him to this thread. He may be willing to come here to discuss this. It's a good video for the most part, but there are certainly some serious problems that could be fixed.

Thanks for pointing out the flaws. The original video (now down due to copyright BS) kinda went viral in the vegan community and got over 10k views, which is why I wanted to fact check it. Apparently I didn't pay enough attention to the arguments myself or I'm just too much of a noob in moral philosophy. I posted a message on his video inviting him to come here
