Can a plant-based diet assist with Hypothyroidism?

Curious on your thoughts on this topic if you suffer from hypothyroidism as I recently got diagnosed. I came across this video and it's interesting - would love some feedback here :))

Hmm interesting. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis, the autoimmune disorder that mostly commonly causes hypothyroidism in western countries. In other parts of the world it's iodine deficiency, but I think in the US it's usually autoimmune disease. Anyway, I was diagnosed as a teen, because they found an elevated level of thyroid peroxidase (TPO) antibodies in my blood. The normal level is below <9, and I had like 30-40. But I never had elevated TSH levels or low T3 and T4, so it was not hypothyroidism and I did not take medication for it. It was just monitored every year by my endo since I was like 14.

But recently, I had my bloodwork done at the college health center, and my TPO antibodies were within the normal range. And the doctor was like tHERe's nO evIDencE yOU hAve hAshiMOTOs ???? Lol. I don't know, like, some people with Hashimoto's have thousands of antibodies, and I was barely above the normal range. So maybe it wasn't ever significant lol, some tests are just more ... conservative?

But yeah, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's about a year after I went vegan, so I was actually worried that veganism caused it. But apparently I don't even have it, so, I don't know. The body is weird.

In the video, he had an elevated TSH level. Since the doctor said it wasn't curable, I guess that means it was autoimmune? But he didn't say it was autoimmune so .. I'm kind of confused lol. Like what were his antibody levels?

What kind of thyroid disorder do you have?
