Wild Animal Suffering

I tend to avoid debates on Twitter since almost nothing good comes from them, but I recently had a short discussion about Wild Animal Suffering on there which was interesting.

My position: While wilw animal lives are certainly hard, that doesn't automatically translate to suffering, as they've adapted to their environments, and for the vast majority of animals, especially mammals, life isn't brutal torture.

Any thoughts?

Being killed by predator, though, is probably better than being killed by cancer, and most rabbits get testicular or ovarian cancer once they are over 2 years old.

I would guess that most wild animals do not have what we would call "happy" lives. Are they suffering? My feeling is that by and large, yes.
