What do you think about the immigration crisis?
So, what do you guys here think about the immigration crisis? Do you think we should do something about it? I think anything we might do about it would be a serious human rights violation, and I've just made a video explaining why.

Yes, we need to open our borders and let people in so they can contribute to the economy as immigrants often disproportionately do.
Crisis = opportunity.
Take advantage of these highly motivated people by giving them interest free college loans too and make them be doctors and engineers and such!

When I hear the phrase "immigration crisis", it makes me think in only reactionary terms, which would suggest that immigration is evil, a detriment, etc. I know that's not what you're getting at, but that's what I would associate that word choice with. The point is, I guess, that I don't think there's a crisis at all, other than the way that the more conservative, nationalistic types in positions of power are dealing with it.
There are already serious human rights violations occurring in reaction to immigration issues, so that's in the here and now, already happening. I don't know how to put a stop to those things other than voting the nationalists out (which is at the mercy of "democracy"), or direct action.

I think there needs to be a balance. I would love to adopt every homeless suffering dog I see, but i know if I bring in too many everyone in my home will suffer.
I know this is not a popular notion, but one also needs to carefully consider the individual characteristics of the potential immigrant. I choose to highlight this because there is a big difference between the characteristics of the majority of those who try to enter the U.S. and those who choose to enter Europe.

Re: What do you think about the immigration crisis?
My video was primarily about how absurd that is that the EU claims to support free trade and free movement, yet it requires Croatia to "defend the borders" in order to get that. EU obviously doesn't actually believe in free trade and free movement, and I think it's pointless for Croatia to obey any of its rules.theuproar wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2020 3:00 pmWhen I hear the phrase "immigration crisis", it makes me think in only reactionary terms, which would suggest that immigration is evil, a detriment, etc. I know that's not what you're getting at, but that's what I would associate that word choice with.
