Hi.
I'm new here.
But here is also pretty new.
My name isn't actually brimstoneSalad. That's just a pseudonym.
I also don't like salad. I'm on the fence about brimstones.
I'm glad you made this forum. I hope there will be enough regulars to attract some attention for people to come here to debate.
Should we send out some missionaries to post on other forums and invite people or something (within the rules of the respective forums, of course)?
We need more theists here, or there will be nobody to argue with, and we'll begin to cannibalize (which is a bad prognosis for any community).
Maybe we could think of some random criterion, and offer a prize or something?

Hi and welcome to the forums
, usually when I'm on other forums I post a link to here to suggest certain arguments and ideas that could come up, I think that would be the easiest yet subtlest way of advertising.

That's a good idea, but I don't go to any other forums.
I was thinking like, maybe a challenge for theists with a reward? Even something simple.
Not like "prove god", because they'll know they won't be able to do that to our satisfaction (from their perspective, because they assume we're closed minded- in reality because they can't)
But just like "Post an argument for god that we haven't seen before"
That would bring a lot of people who think they have creative and original arguments for god. We'd probably have to pay out on the reward eventually, but even like $100 could be a big boon to the site.

Well TheVeganAtheist is already doing a giveaway, perhaps if the reward was something like a free t-shirt? I know this seems cheap but we shouldn't have to buy our members.brimstoneSalad wrote:Thanks!dan1073 wrote:Hi and welcome to the forums, usually when I'm on other forums I post a link to here to suggest certain arguments and ideas that could come up, I think that would be the easiest yet subtlest way of advertising.

I know what you mean, but a free t-shirt isn't free (he has to pay the base rate and shipping).dan1073 wrote: Well TheVeganAtheist is already doing a giveaway, perhaps if the reward was something like a free t-shirt? I know this seems cheap but we shouldn't have to buy our members.
Think of it kind of like some of the reward offers by creationists- except a lot more honest (and actually achievable)?
Or the JREF reward- equally honest, but more possible (since it is possible to come up with an original argument for god- just not a valid and sound one).
It's unlikely that a typical theist will be encouraged by a t-shirt offer.
I guess it would be possible to do the reward in a totally non-monetary way.
Like have a feature section on the site, and the theist can get the argument put up there, and featured in one of the TheVeganAtheist's videos
Not as a Valid argument- but just as an original one (with props respect for at least thinking out of the box and not repeating the same stuff over and over)- including a counter argument after.
That's worth a lot too, for a budding apologist (publicity has a lot of value).
What I've found, though, is that a dollar sign goes a long way- even if it's a really small value after the sign- because it's instantly recognizable.
More complex or nuanced rewards tend to fail to be propagated through the LT:DR crowd, and may not reach the ears they need to reach.

How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:
1.Watch Forks over Knives (Health)
2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)
3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.

That was confusing.

That was confusing.
Everything is a lie.

Looking back, turns out we didn't need many theists to have a lot of debates. We can find other things to argue about!

Btw what happened to Dan?
