I can't tell you how many times someone found out I was vegetarian or vegan, and then said "Oh, you'll like to eat meat ;3 " as a retort. I personally find it funny, but it happens so often, I just wish they'd come up with something new. In fact, I get this reaction at least 10 times more than I get the "What about protein?" question asked. Other ways of saying it include:

"Do you eat Sausage then? ;3"
and
"Are you still vegan if you swallow?"

Have you ever encountered this? If so, what do you feel about it?

I think most people know it's silly, but there are some people who are stupid enough to be really troubled by this. I've seen this in relation to human breast feeding too. Even vegans who think they can't breast feed their children because it's not vegan. >_<

Some people are just dumb. It's hard to respond to that stuff without being mean.

You could take it from a bull and swallow, and it'd not be vegan. It would not be much different than drinking milk, actually. You could rape/force it out of a man and swallow it, not vegan.
But if you are gifted it or purchase it, I'd say its still ethically vegan.

Same goes for the wig. Did you rob someone of their hair? not vegan. Wool is not vegan because the sheep really has no say in it. Its about minimizing suffering.
But to get back to honey. Is an artist's painting vegan? Since it was made by an animal?
The day bees willingly sell their honey for a price they deem match their labor, I'd say such purchased honey is vegan. Not much different than me selling my labor for a price when I go into work.
These questions are not as arbitrary as you thought when typing them.

Sounds good to me. It's not about the animal product itself, it's about how it was taken without their consent and against their best interest.

I get this question sometimes too, it's pretty annoying. It can also be funny depending on who's asking and how they're asking it. I say: "Well I said I'm against causing suffering...." They usually get it. It's always best not to be too abrasive in your answers because some people are actually confused (I know many people who also think breast milk is not vegan, and they're not generally unintelligent) and others are testing to see how ideological you are in your veganism. Others are just assholes, but such is life.

Veganism and atheism has a lot in common in a way, hence this forum lol . Its so easy to argue it logically if you just stop and think. It is so much harder to get peoples' "heart" in the right place.

Maybe I'm being too serious but I find it inappropriate for anyone who is not your close friend or something asking you personal invasive questions about what you do in the bedroom. They would probably never randomly ask 'do you swallow?' in any other situation but somehow when veganism comes up its okay for someone to ask that?

I don't think so. Even if they are trying to be funny/jokey I appreciate that effort but I find it extremely rude and frustrating to be asked such an intimate question when there would be no excuse otherwise to ask it.
