TheUdderTruth.org

Post by Red »

So I was watching some Youtube just a few minutes ago, and I saw an ad (yeah I don't use Adblock, so sue me) for a website called theuddertruth.org. Curious, I clicked on the link, and I was shown with videos about how cows are actually treated. Of course I am still skeptical of this site. Maybe this just shows a how cows are treated in a few factory farms. Or maybe this is all set up to make sure people don't go vegan and to help the meat industry make more money. Or maybe factory farms have changed since the dawn of "Earthlings". I mean, don't get me wrong, even if I were 100% certain that this were how cows were treated on said farms, I probably would still not eat it at that point. I'm more of a how we use the animal rather than treat the animal kind of vegan. Anyways, I am having mixed feelings about this site. And I'm not sure if it would still be moral to eat the animal, despite what I said. Even then, from what I saw, aside from all the commentary parts, the cows still look as if they are being put against their will (such as them taking their milk). Gabe N.

*Obligatory questions*
So how do you feel about this site? Do you think it's legit or 100% bullshit (no pun intended)?
If you think it's bullshit, why do you think it?
If you knew for certain that this is how the cows were treated, would you eat their meat?
And speaking of which, I wonder how pigs and chickens are being treated.. I'll check back with you on that.

Dairy is a big business; there's a lot of propaganda in it to help move product. This is just PR; if you follow the money, you're going to find dairy cash behind it.
This isn't some kind of independent movement trying to save dairy.

Here we go:
http://www.jsonline.com/business/dairy-industry-hires-the-onion-to-tell-the-udder-truth-b99556577z1-321956381.html

Dairy industry marketing. That's all it is.

As a side note: I have lost all respect for The Onion.

http://www.welldonemarketing.com/2015/07/i-clicked-on-an-ad-in-the-onion-what-happened-next-was-shocking/

Note the critical comment: A writer hired by the dairy industry to reply to that article.

Interesting: theuddertruth.org redirects to:
http://www.gotmisery.com/
Please read that (a much more credible site, that actually is independent from the dairy industry)

Mercy for animals is an animal advocacy group focused on effective advocacy. If the dairy industry were the least of evils, they wouldn't focus on it like that. They have nothing to gain from taking on dairy; its compelled only by their consciences and the facts.

Oh, I totally forgot that it was only about the milk. I didn't see every video, so I made assumptions. Anyways, i guess I was right. The money is where it's at. This is capitalism 101. I never really cared for the onion, but I'll give the article a look.

Now I feek like a damn fool.

Supply and demand. There is a very small supply of media unethical enough to publish factory farm propaganda, and a huge demand for propaganda platforms. They're probably making a lot of money from this.

What's the going rate for scruples these days?

Even so, I wouldn't expect this from The Onion, considering how liberal and anti-bullshit it is.
