I know when I was transitioning, I found vegweb.com reallllly useful. There are a lot of good recipes on there, plenty of reviews on a lot of them to know what to expect, and people are overall pretty friendly there.

Though it might not be useful to everyone, I know barnivore.com is also a good resource to have when it comes to alcohol. You never know what your alcohol has been filtered with, or what was added to it in general! I still use it whenever I come across a new beer or hard liquor I want to try.

I also would like to add veganeatingout.com, but you have to be careful with that site because I feel like it isn't updated as often as the menus at certain places do. Just use you common sense, and you should be fine. Happycow.net is similar, but is more for looking for specifically vegan/vegetarian places, so I've found it less useful when being dragged along to a place with someone.

I'm sure I'll wind up posting more later, but those are what always come to mind first.

--------------------

EDIT (figured I might as well add to my post instead of making another one): I don't know how I forgot, but livevegan.org is a good all around site. If you take the pledge on there, it sends you weekly emails as well with different recipes to try out and gives you encouragement. I "pledged" on that site about six months ago just to see how it works, and it actually has some pretty good looking recipes! (Can you tell I like food yet??) I haven't really read much on the site itself, so I don't know if I agree with everything FARM has to say, but overall it is definitely a good starter site.

I will be adding a page to my homepage for resource links. If anyone has further suggestions, please post them here.

Health: http://www.pcrm.org/nbBlog/ (Neal Barnard's blog)

These articles are very helpful for health discussions.

I would like to recommend as a useful resource the Vegan Black Metal Chef's YouTube channel. He has an abundance of delicious recipes that are easy to make, and use relatively cheap (and easily attainable) ingredients. I have personally made his lasagna and received positive feedback from guests whom I served the dinner.

The latest Michael Greger speech can be an excellent resource.
How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:
1.Watch Forks over Knives (Health)
2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)
3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.

I've yet to see the new one, but his presentations are always awesome.

Watching it now. He's getting into some of the things I touched on in the other thread, regarding types of protein.

If you are looking for dietary advice, mainstream organisations such as Animals Australia or the Vegan Society have got great resources. When it comes to nutritional advice, it is worth consulting a registered, adequately qualified professional. There are many vegan registered dieticians. If you are just looking for some information, here are a few sites I recommend:

Vegan Health, By Jack Norris from Vegan Outreach: http://www.veganhealth.org/
The Vegan R.D., By Ginny Kisch Messina: http://www.theveganrd.com/
The Human Herbivore by Amanda Benham: http://www.humanherbivore.com/
Vegetarian Nutrition: http://vegetariannutrition.net/faq/
Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine: http://www.pcrm.org/
Dr Malcolm Mackay: http://drmalcolmmackay.com.au/
