Sanctimonious vegans would do well to think about their diet’s global impact

In our discussion group this morning, the topic was:
"What's good for the planet is good for us"

When I brought up the fact that the best thing we could all do for the planet (and our health - and the animals) was to go vegan, one of our members bought up this article by Yasmin Alibhai-Brown. Whilst she makes some valid points, it doesn't seem to add up to much in the great scheme of things.

How would you react to this article?

It's trashy cherry picked yellow journalism hit piece against vegans. Anti-vegans like Yasmin Alibhai-Brown will tell any lie to damage the vegan movement.

Pretty much every time these claims are investigated that BUYING products from a region is hurting the people who live there it turns out to be nonsense.

I don't think there's a single valid point in the whole article.
What she's doing is called a Gish gallop, stringing together a series of long debunked lies in rapid succession with no research or citations so people can't fact check. It's designed to tire out an opponent who must spend much more time debunking each claim than the seconds it takes to make the claim.
