Agreed.
Commissaris wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2017 6:37 amvegan nazis are bad for veganism (and so are vegan racists).
If someone is going to be a racist, I'd much prefer if s/he is a vegan racist. I think the percentage of vegans among racists will always be lower than that within the non-racist population and therefore racists and racist ideas will never be strongly associated with veganism. Incidentally I feel the same about vegan child molesters and vegan necrophiles.
How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:
1.Watch Forks over Knives (Health)
2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)
3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.

Well sure, but only as long as the two aren't associated with one another. If a vegan nazi were to gain traction online I'm convinced the rest of us shouldn't be allying with that person. But if someone is going to be a nazi I'd of course prefer them to be a vegan one.

I would rather them be secretly vegan, but when they're vocal about it they could put more people off veganism and prevent the saving of more animals than they save by being vegan.
How many people use the "Hitler was vegetarian" argument?
It's a bad argument (and technically probably even untrue) but that doesn't stop it from being compelling to some people.

Really? I always thought that if people hear about this supposed fact, it would turn them more towards veganism, since it's like 'Look, even one of the most evil humans in history had his share of moral values.'
In fact, before when I was vegan, when I heard that about that, it made me reconsider eating meat a little bit.

I've heard that said too. If even somebody that evil can be vegetarian, why can't I manage it?
Maybe that's only from more rational and self-critical people.
I think most people use the guilt by association fallacy.

Which isn't most people. I wouldn't think that people would use it as an excuse against veganism; it just doesn't make any sense. It's like creationists who claim that Hitler was an atheist. So what?

They would imply that his supposed atheism caused him to not have any morals, which let him do what he did.
They might also imply that his being vegetarian caused him to see humans and animals as equals, or devalue human beings to the level of animals which let him kill them without concern.
Terrible arguments, obviously, because vegetarians value animals more than other people do, not necessarily humans less, otherwise they'd start eating human meat too instead of stopping the consumption of animal meat.
I know that's what they assume, so to speak, but doesn't it sound at least a little irrational to even the dumbest of people? It really doesn't take a whole lot of critical thinking skills.

anti-racist: whites have no primary right to this land
McCarthy's: Oh yeah? We took it cause why why why why? We could!
This is blatant might makes right, and it's an extremely commong argument among the alt right. It's actually not necessary in that one could make the case that whites have a primary right to the political entity known as the united states while still agreeing that the way in which that political entity was originally established was not moral. But no white nationalist would agree to this, because it would implicate huwhite people.
