Alright, well I spent about an hour and a half last night responding to Brim's post at length, then lost the whole thing trying to save it as a draft so I could edit it this morning. As I was trying to process the loss calmly, I realized that nothing was truly lost because the conversation isn't moving anyone from where they are already firmly planted. Here seems as good a place to stop as any, so I'm going to bow out gratefully (if not so gracefully), as you've all shown great patience traversing this bramble patch with me. You' are all great thinkers. Enjoy the summer!

That sucks. It has happened to me many times as well. You should try to save it as a Word document next time.

I don't think this is true. These conversations are useful to many people.
I hope you'll try to reduce your consumption of meat in the future, Brian. You are interested in morality and you were vegetarian in the past, obviously your conscience 'knows' there's something wrong with eating meat.

Thanks, Darl. At the very least, the mental excercise is of value for sure.

It always sucks when that happens.

It's best to compose in a word document, but if you lose something in your web browser (as long as you have a modern web browser) you can just hit the back button and your browser will retain all of the post content in the text field.

Learning takes work, particularly in the unlearning. If you really want to access the truth, you have to be willing to put in the time to challenge yourself.
Otherwise, you're just entrenched in an unquestioning dogma.

Please feel free to give it another go when you have some time to rest.
If you prefer a real-time chat, that may be possible too.

I hope you'll find your way out of the bramble patch.

Agree with both, also please stick around for funzies anyway, your solipsism makes my nihilist communism look sane in comparison, jokes! I've still yet to leverage a full fledged defence of pro-intersectional ethics, it'll have something to do with complex systems theory and fraying of consequentialism when you get down to the micro level of people wanting to have the liberty for example to drive home drunk at night in rural parts of Ireland where there wouldn't be a pedestrian in site and the only people on the roads are those coming back from the pub. But waiting for the last intersectioinality video in UV's series for that, so stay tuned for my speculative philosophy to also be ripped a new one :P

Hahahaha Driving drunk on country roads may be a problem that solves itself -- of course, one must consider the public tax burden of removing overturned cars from ditches alongside the road. Thanks, guys!

Aye I'd have to demonstrate that the interests to share in community rituals far outweighed the interests not to die by misadventure, car accidents are just a part of having roads, I guess people with tougher skin would just gravitate towards those civil service jobs, either way healthcare jobs like that will always be universally volunteered for and unethical not to support.

That was an interesting video... I never looked into this topic. It's odd that someone chose to create animation for this, but good on 'em, it's something to look at while you listen.
