Psychologist on best way to advocate veganism

Post by Jebus »

I don't agree with all of his opinions. It is the opinion of one psychologist and doesn't seem to be based on any research.

How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:
1.Watch Forks over Knives (Health)
2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)
3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.

How did I miss this?

It looks like pretty good advice for the most part. But there's also a marketing angle.

On the one on one level, I think this is very true.
But assholes and aggressive tactics are also more interesting and dramatic, and get more attention (free press, which can not be undervalued).
I'd say that, given the same amount of press and attention, tactics like Yourofsky's would be worse than somebody like Melanie Joy -- but because of his character, he's going to reach more people with a controversial message, and his ultimate effect may be greater.

Reaching 1% of a million people is greater than reaching 99% of a thousand people.
