Product like palm oil

Post by Fluttershy »

Is there any other product like palm oil that is not vegan even if it doesn't contain something that come from animals?

I'm not sure, but I think semantically palm oil would still be considered vegan since it doesn't contain animal products.

Coconut oil is still vegan although it is bad for you (unless you only use it for hair and skin). Quinoa may fall into the same category but then we would have to include most organic products.

Other products which may be included in this category are products like cigarettes that have used a lot of animal testing. I would also include products like Budweiser beer who sponsor unethical companies like Sea World.
How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:
1.Watch Forks over Knives (Health)
2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)
3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.

There's no hard line between vegan and not vegan.

It's a spectrum between the most harmless and nutritious products, like beans and legumes, to the most harmful and damaging products like palm oil and meat.

Even non-food things fall on that spectrum, like diamonds and drugs, which are associated with a lot of harm in the world, so I would suggest avoiding them.
I would put cigarettes and alcohol on the harmful side of things.

In terms of vegetables, most vegetables are going to be healthy and low-harm.

In terms of whole foods, tropical or imported things are the only ones you normally need to worry about, since they may involve ecological harm, or more harm than usual to humans (debatable), etc.
Bananas have a pretty bad reputation, since they're imported. I take those things with a grain of salt, but since they're not really good for you (sweet fruits aren't very nutritious, bananas are one of the worst) I don't make them a significant part of my diet.

My diet is mainly based around beans, dark greens, and whole grains grown in the country I'm in. I eat only a small amount of fruit.
