Hi Everyone!

Post by Red »

(150 posts later, I finally have decided to make one of these introductory statements. I had this in mai drafts and I totally forgot about it) Anyways, you probably all know me by now. I'm that annoying guy that you see from time to time. anyways, I am RedAppleGP, and this is my story.

Veganism

When I first joined the forum, I was still experimenting with Vegetarianism, after watching some VeganAtheist and reading some posts by vegans via social media. Anyways, my family thought it was odd that I would try out vegetarianism. At first, I skipped eating meat at all possible times, and ate more fruits and vegetables. Then one day I was like "Yknow what? I'm 13 years old, I think I can do My own shopping!" I decided to do my own shopping with the money that I didn't earn myself and started to buy more fruits (primarily apples) and tried out Soy Milk, which is much better than cow milk. I also dropped eggs, and dropped vegetarianism completely and went on to Veganism, which is easier than what droolers make it out to be. I also stole recipes from the food network and I am currently practicing my Vegan cooking. I have been a vegan for about 4 to 5 months, am I'm doing good so far!

Atheism

This one is a bit deeper. I came across a lot, and by that I mean A LOT of atheist youtubers, TV shows, radio programs, podcasts, etc. that made me the atheist I am today! I know a lot of you hate him (and I honestly dont blame you), but I really have to give a huge thanks to The AmazingAtheist. Sure, other Youtubers helped me grow as a person, but he really expanded my atheist views. I don't really watch him that much anymore, and he's becoming a lot more arrogant, but he was able to make me a critikal thinker, and he is admittedly hilarious. Like 95% of atheists, I used to think that atheists were terrible people, but now I know they are as friendly as the next guy. (Not all of them though. And sometimes, religious folk are worse) I called myself an "agnostic" even though, deep down, I knew I was an atheist. Now, I am an avid internet atheist, owning creationists in debates and continuing to open my narrow mind, and the minds of others, more open. Now, I just see works like the Bible and the Qur'an (if that's how you spell it) as just a bunch of fairytales and garbage. I don't fully understand how any honest person can believe in talking snakes, turning water into wine, talking animals, giants, a superhuman who killed thousands of people, a worldwide flood. Thankfully, only certain religious folk believe in this stuff.

anyways, here's a bit about myself. I'm 13, a valedictorian, (dont expect you to believe that) a very scientific person, casual gamer, and I am currently looking at anarchism and libertarian socialism.

okay if you have any questions feel free to ask them... Bye.

Questions, hm...
How did your parents react to this?
When did you become an atheist?
Why did you go vegetarian?
How many vegans do you know in real life?
Do you know any atheists in real life?

Veganism? Laughter. Atheism? Well it went a lot better than expected. I didn't grow up in a very religious household. My mother was shocked, but my dad was cool about it.
When did you become an atheist?
When I was only 10 years Old. Better to start young!
Why did you go vegetarian?
Well, I knew I wanted to go full Vegan. I know most of us do things quickly as possible. ut see, Im not most of us. I take things slow rather than quickly as possible.
How many vegans do you know in real life?
Well, I know more vegetarians. I can't list any vegans as a matter of fact. Anyways, most of my vegetarian friends are Hindu, and after long discussions, they are finally considering a vegan diet! ;)
Do you know any atheists in real life?
Like one or two. Good guys. Other religious friends are skeptical about a diety though. soo that's good!

That's it? Laughter? My parents flipped their sh*t, just when I suggested something that seemed like vegetarianism (when I was really talking about veganism). ;)

How did you tell your parents about going vegan? I tried to do it without them knowing, because I knew they would get all pissy-pissy, but eventually they thought I had anorexia (because every meal they made had meat, and I would only eat the vegetables, which were mainly side dishes), so I realized I had to say something.

It was pretty amusing, though.

"You know, people die from anorexia!"
"You'll be in the emergency room!"

Sigh.

Wow, your parents had pretty mild reactions to both things.

Oh, ok. But why did you go vegetarian in the first place? You weren't a vegetarian your entire life, so what caused the change?
Well, I know more vegetarians. I can't list any vegans as a matter of fact. Anyways, most of my vegetarian friends are Hindu, and after long discussions, they are finally considering a vegan diet! ;)
I can't name any vegans in real life either. I have a kind-of-sometimes-freegan friend and two vegetarian friends, though.

Cool! Do they go to your school?

Nice introduction. When I was your age, I would go to Mc Donalds and chew down 3-4 Big Macs. I wasn't anywhere close to considering being a vegan. Congratulations on your early realization.
How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:
1.Watch Forks over Knives (Health)
2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)
3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.

@EquALLity They laughed at me because 88% of mmy diet was meat. Tgey tgought I wouldn't be able to do it. Boy I love proving people wrong.

I wanted to try out vegetarianism because I knew I wanted to go full Vegan. I became vegetarian to get a feel of what Veganism is like.

NahI don't really know where they go.
