Hi ! I'm Nyu, I'm a french student and absolutely not bilingual so sorry for my future mistakes. I'll try to keep on eye on my writing but, feel free to correct me if you want !
So, I'm a pescetarian and interesting in vegetarianism/veganism since less than a year ! I started eating less meat because of some french documentaries I watched about industrial farming and dairy.. I still eat sometimes fish and crustacean when i'm outside of my house or if i'm eating at someone's house. I have mixed up feeling about eating fish because most of them contain B12 vitamin and I don't know if I want ( or can because my stomach doesn't tolerate easily dietary supplement :/) take dietary supplement at this point. So i'm pretty lost about that haha.
I'm an atheist since almost all my life, to be precise I'm an atheist and agnostic (I think it's pretty impossible to prove that god(s) exist or doesn't), and I try to be as sceptical as I can !
Then.. I'm have a degree in archaeology ( in prehistoric times ) but now I'm studying to be a psychomotrician ( I don't really know how this profession is representing in your country.. So feel free to ask me anything ! )
That's all for now ! Bises ! ( bises = farewell with kiss on the cheeks)

Re: Hello !
Welcome Nyu. Are you actually studying at NYU? I've never heard of anyone not being able to tolerate B12 supplements. Are you sure this is the case?
How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:
1.Watch Forks over Knives (Health)
2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)
3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.

Re: Hello !
Heya Nyu, really interesting intro, I know some meat eaters who take B12 shots because they can't absorb it through digestion, I know supplements can be less effective again but certain things you can do like always taking after a meal, if you're really worried after taking the supplements for a while, best thing would be to go to your doctor and say you're feeling run down in order to get your blood tested, otherwise just ask for the shot. Supplements are a good idea anyways, but if you don't want to worry about them I'd just try to reduce the dependence on things like milk and cheese, try to swap fish with oysters. Keep watching those documentaries exploring the subject when you feel ready for it, and just cool for you to be here to discuss random stuffNyu_ wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2017 5:31 am Hi ! That's so cool, do you think you could take the skills you learn from doing that and put it together with street epistemology or conversations you have with strangers in general? Or is most of it to personal to take as direct question line in your life?Definition of psychometrician
1: a person (such as a clinical psychologist) who is skilled in the administration and interpretation of objective psychological tests
2: a psychologist who devises, constructs, and standardizes psychometric tests

What do you think about the German government monitoring of the scientology organizations, and their fraudulent street 'psychometric' tests, would be epic to see someone in the real profession challenging them on video aha.
Nyu is their real name I think Jebus, also likely studying in France if they said they're not sure how their profession 'is represented in your country,' meaning English one, no? Maybe I'm wrong now, aha.

Re: Hello !
Thank you Jebus and NonZeroSum !
For Jebus, no, i'm not studying at NYU, it's just the nickname I used because one friend used to call me like that ! I'm studying where I live, in France.
I don't know, I can't really tolerate iron, magnesium vitamin C supplements for instance.. :/ But soon I'll make a big check-up with my doc ( blood test etc), and I'll talk about that with her
NonZeroSum,

I think you misread my word and I know why, sorry, I said "psychomotrician" but I was thinking about a psychomotor-therapist. I said " psychomotrician " because in french we call a psychomotor-therapist a " psychomotricien ".. From my perceptive, the psychomotor-therapist in France is like a physiotherapist and a psychologist ! You treat disorder (like post-traumatic stress, alzheimer's, dyspraxia/dyslexia/etc.) through the body by different kind of methods that stimulate your brain in different ways. ( For instance meditation for post-traumatic stress because it lower your stress level ). If you want me to be more precise you can ask it, I just don't want to flood the discussion..NonZeroSum wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2017 3:33 pm That's so cool, do you think you could take the skills you learn from doing that and put it together with street epistemology or conversations you have with strangers in general? Re: Hello !
Welcome Nyu, I hope you like it here. You're already doing a great job, so you should be proud of what you've accomplished in reduction of animal products already. It's great that you want to go vegan and we'd be glad to help.
B-12 should not bother your stomach, particularly if you take a small supplement with meals.
You could also look for drops, which may be even easier to stomach if something about the pill bothers you; for some people, the act of swallowing pills might cause nausea.
You shouldn't need injections, but that's an option if you prefer it.
Metal supplements are the hardest to stomach, most people have trouble with high dose iron supplements.
