Hello From Los Angeles!

Post by MarthaLampley »

I have been vegetarian for a few years. I'm moving toward vegan. I gained a bunch of weight. I figured if I couldn't eat meat then I would eat cake! I found some awesome vegan cake recipes online. So now I'm trying to be reasonable. I look forward to learning from everyone here.

Yo Martha,

Welcome to ze forum, congrats on moving towards veganism, was it something you read or watched recently?

That's so funny what you said about going from meat to cake, just comfort foods I guess. I never had a problem with weight gain because I love anything that's outdoor exercise, my problem is I'll get really into whatever I'm doing, whether carpentry, veg growing, cycle touring I forget to eat well planned meals, or even at all. So I've gone really gaunt before, then force myself to eat more but it's usually what's in front of me when in the mood so it can definitely be the wrong stuff. I have to stay in one place and get really into my cooking for my friends for a month, but need some more continuity in my life generally. Being isolated ruraly at the moment with computer screen lights and insomnia isn't any good either.

If you want to put up what you eat on in an average weak, peeps will be more than happy to help you out with advice on upping your nutrition and taking the calories off.

I was dying laughing listening to Jim Morrison talk about getting fat in college, highly recommend:

Welcome to the forum, Martha. Glad to hear that you like vegan cakes. I myself have baked apple pie, pecan pie, lime garbanzo-meringue pie, brownies, and gingerbread cookies; all in vegan form. So many tasty vegan deserts out there!
