Hi all,

I'm an evolutionary biologist teaching evolution (college level). I'm a new atheist and am recently becoming more open about my atheism. I teach many undergraduates and although I do fight creationism (after all I teach evolution), I'm still a little uneasy exposing myself as an atheist. My fear is that students will see me as immoral (and who know, blame their grades my lack of morals? Complain to the administration?), I'm also afraid of offending students (after all I fully agree with Dawkins and Hitchens... religion poisons everything). Anyway, great to have this site available! Thanks!! Happy to help answering any creationism BS if ever needed!

Hi Lsm, welcome!

I'm glad you've joined us.

Have you ever had any students claim that the devil hid all of the fossils to try to trick us?

My evolution course is not required... thus creationists rarely take it. I did had a couple students who told they "converted" to evolution... before they believed on the creation story... I avoid asking too much not to get in trouble :)
