I just stumbled across this one: http://www.amazon.com/The-Cholesterol-W ... 0123739799

It's a bit old, but it looks good. Most of the books on the subject are written by the nutty conspiracy theorist "cholesterol skeptics", this one seems to be more from a scientific perspective.

Anybody read this one?

I'm always having a hard time getting through books or articles about health. It's not really my cup of tea.

I'm regularly stumbling across a positive reference to this book:
Herman Philipse – God in the Age of Science?

Seems to be a very well written and detailed book about the question of god's existence. I'm planning to pick it up sometime.

I've read Peter Singer's book The Expanding Circle recently. It's a great book. Probably the best one I've read thus far on the subject of ethics. I can especially recommend it for those who read The Selfish Gene or E.O. Wilson's work on sociobiology, since it talks a lot about the relation between ethics and the biological basis for altruism.

Cosmos by Carl Sagan. He writes really well ,I felt Dawkins pales by comparison.

The portable atheist by Cristopher Hitchens was also excellent, an anthology of sorts

The greatest show on earth by Richard Dawkins its about evolution and is a good informative read.

An anthropologist on mars by Oliver Sacks if you're interested in a scientific understanding of the Brain, perhaps shows why concepts like the soul are bunk.
“We are the cosmos made conscious and life is the means by which the universe understands itself.”

I skip read nonfiction books so the last two books I read from front to back were fictional; The Beach and Cold Mountain, which I knew were going to be fab and they didn't disappoint. I want to start reading Karl Ove Knausgaard's My Struggle, but it feels like a big commitment like the Proust series, because once you read one you have to read them all. The books are massive in northern Europe, anyone here taken a gander?
