Rationalwiki has a good article on it:
http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Chiropractic
It's about 99% woo. The remaining 1% is basically identical to massage therapy/standard physical therapy.
It's also very dangerous. It should be outlawed, but it won't be.

I would trust a massage therapist or a physical therapist over a chiropractor any day. I have had a lot of people tell me anecdotes that it helped but have never seen any long term study that indicate real benefits.brimstoneSalad wrote:Rationalwiki has a good article on it:

Yes, don't go. Switch to a physical therapist if you think you need it.EquALLity wrote: Yikes. My parents make me go to one. Should I be concerned?
You could be paralyzed, or even die. It's risk without benefit.
Also: It's unethical to support pseudoscience by patronizing them.

I don't have any specific reason for going; we (my family) just go because my parents think it's good for us.Yes, don't go. Switch to a physical therapist if you think you need it.

I will suggest physical therapy as in alternative though.

I don't know if this at all relates to your situation but I had internal foot contusions from running. I visited a physical therapist and they basically gave me a stretching and exercise regimen that I still use and have not had a problem since. I only went 3 times.

Forcing one's children to do something dangerous like this against their wills is a form of child abuse. It's your life, your parents can't force life threatening pseudoscience upon you. This is no different from Jehovah's witness parents not allowing their children to receive life saving blood transfusions.EquALLity wrote: I don't have any specific reason for going; we (my family) just go because my parents think it's good for us.

Don't just "suggest" physical therapy.
If your parents don't let you stop going to this quack, then call social services, and ask them to have a talk with your parents.
You can be moved into a group hope for now, where your life won't be in danger from this abuse.
