Time magazine "Person of the year"
Apparently Trump tweeted that he turned down Time magazine's offer of making him "Person of the Year" for 2017. TIme Magazine replied saying that they this was never offered to Trump and that this is not at all how they choose "Person of the Year".
Time needs to make it clear to everyone what "Person of the Year" is supposed to mean. If it's the person with the biggest impact (positive or negative) then they need to justify why they backed down from choosing Bin Laden (2001 I think it was). If they intend to make it the person with the biggest positive impact they need to explain why they chose anusholes like Hitler, Stalin, and Khomeini.

I totally agree.
On a side note: Trump has, according to several reliable sources, created a fake cover of Time Magazine 2009.

It's meant to be the person with the biggest impact, positive or negative.
They backed down from given Bin Laden person of the year for the same reasons they backed down from giving Mussolini and/or Hitler person of the century. It is because nowadays people would be too stupid to understand why they were given it and would automatically think Time was endorsing those people because nowadays people are just a bunch of idiots. Sad!

Please click this link and vote for Kim Jong-un. Regardless of your opinion on him, it is undeniable that he had the most influence this year.

Right. And as such there should be negative consequences. Stick to your guns or suffer the wrath of the people. I can't believe people are still spending money on Time Magazine. What can they offer that I can't get for free with a few keyboard strokes?Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2017 10:11 am It's meant to be the person with the biggest impact, positive or negative.

I always thought it was just the person with the "most" impact, never the most positive. Thus the hitler, stalin, and khomeini.Jebus wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2017 12:49 pm If it's the person with the biggest impact (positive or negative) then they need to justify why they backed down from choosing Bin Laden. I acknowledge as POTUS, trump has influence, but I wonder how much actual impact he has on everyday life? He just guides the presiding party, but ironically most of them don't agree with his preferred path. (Us anarchistic persons had hope, but he's just another figurehead..)
I'm waiting until one party presents "proof" to pass judgment, but in 'Murica today, I'll likely die of old age first.

Re: Time magazine "Person of the year"
Hitler and Stalin (twice) have won the award, not just Trump, and Time magazine has repeatedly had to explain to people that it is about overall impact/influence whether good or bad. There is no mystery here.
That being said, I think they might shy away from Kim Jong Un just as they would have shyed away from Osama Bin Laden. I would argue that Xi Jinping might be the real deserved winner after consolidating his power in China to become the most powerful person on Earth. However, Time is US/Western biased so I don't think they will.
Arguably, Harvey Weinstein is a good contender but I don't see that either, I can't really see him sitting down for an interview and photo shoot at least. Someone on another forum said the metoo women should get it. I think that is a really good shout. It is not always a single person. Past awards have gone to "The American soldier", "The whistleblowers" and "you" amongst other oddish choices like that.

Colin Kapernick might also be a contender, although feels like more of a runner up than a winner.

Re: Time magazine "Person of the year"
Personally I think this "Person of the Year" should go to one of these three: Kim Jong-un (The Good) or Donald Trump or Harvey Weinstein (The Bad and the Ugly interchangeably).
