Re: Is the Jedi Order Evil?
I have seen Rogue One. I saw it when it was released in the cinemas in the UK but I unfortunately nevertheless had it spoiled for me by the internet meme page "Hahaha how are politics real". However, luckily, I did not get the scenes I most enjoyed spoiled to me which were the scenes with Darth Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin.

Have you seen The Last Jedi? I'll ask everyone else too.brimstoneSalad wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2017 7:43 pm The first Disney one was alright*. Rogue One was terrible, I was excited when I saw Donnie Yen was in it but that was a terrible disappointment because he only had one half-decent scene. Oh well.
Hello everyone, so what did you all think of The Last Jedi? I saw it in the cinema yesterday.
It really was "Bigger than Epic" (quoting the Mercury News review). Some disappointing aspects, but for the most part it was a thrill and a joy to behold.
If you've seen the movie as well, please let me know what you thought of it, but without leaving any spoilers for those who've yet to see it.

I haven't seen it. I don't usually go to the cinema (I'll wait until it's available to stream).
Any more indications that the Jedi are evil in that one?

Yes, but I will have to give away SPOILERS in order to explain it to you, if you do not wish to see SPOILERS, please do not read any further!brimstoneSalad wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2017 12:52 pm Any more indications that the Jedi are evil in that one?
The rebel scum accept money from corrupt capitalist casino-owners who live in luxury and exploit human beings and animals. The First Order accepts money from these people as well, but I have no doubt that this is due to the influence of bastards within it such as Kylo Ren.
Kylo Ren is a bastard who killed Supreme Leader Snoke, showing disloyalty of the utmost sort to the empire, which is the guardian of democracy and human rights in the galaxy. Kylo Ren then force chokes the honourable General Hux (who can clearly tell that Kylo is a bastard) in order for him to accept him as Supreme Leader. Then, Kylo Ren in a rage upon seeing Luke Skywalker orders all his ships to open all the fire on to him as much as possible. Hux can clearly tell that this is a stupid idea and, showing great courage, demands that the firing ends. The firing at Luke Skywalker did not do any good anyway as he was on the island all along and was using the force to pretend that he was actually there. Kylo Ren's reckless act of firing all those missiles has doubtless contributed to instability of the empire. General Hux needs to provoke revolution within the empire in order to overthrow that oppressive psychopath Kylo Ren.
The "middle way" path between the rebels and empire, supported by Luke Skywalker at the beginning of the film and Kylo Ren at the end of it is a ridiculous path which I have no sympathy for. As Desmond Tutu put it "If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality." Kylo Ren has taken the side of the rebel scum by choosing this middle way path.
I was very upset when I saw Captain Phasma killed. The disgusting rebel terrorists that did it disgust me.
I loved the Porgs though! They were adorable!

Yes, definitely. I don't want to spoil anything, so I won't say much now. After you see The Last Jedi, I'll be interested to hear what you think of old Luke Skywalker as a character, and on his views of the old Jedi Order. He talks with Rey about the jedi and their downfall. I think you'd be interested to here what he has to say.brimstoneSalad wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2017 12:52 pm I haven't seen it. I watched this video critique of jedi philosophy, and it eloquently states some of the worst problems that I've long seen in Jedi. It makes parallels with real modern society as well, criticizing stoic masculinity and the dangers of emotional detachment. I think you might be interested to see it:
