VOTE FOR POLICIES!

Post by Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz »

LABOUR COME TOP ON POLICIES. Most people agree with Labour on Health, NHS, Jobs, Work, Economy, Housing and Immigration. Liberals come second, most agree with them on Environment, Democracy and Crime. Greens come third, most agree with them on Europe, Brexit, Education, Tax, Benefits, Equalities, Rights, Foreign Policy, Defence and Retirements. NOBODY AGREES MOST WITH TORIES AND UKIP ON ANY ISSUE!

Take the test at https://voteforpolicies.org.uk/ to find out which party you side with most on the issues that matter!

I side with LABOUR most at 85.7%. The only places I did not were on Crime, where I agree with the Liberals, and Democracy, where I agree with the Greens.

IF CORBYN DOES NOT WIN, HOW COULD HE NOT?!?

Looks like only Liberal Democrats are good on environment. Their focus is carbon capture and they don't oppose nuclear (just oppose subsidies, which sucks but as long as there's a carbon tax of some kind Nuclear will be more viable anyway so that's fine).

What are their full environmental and educational policies? (Those are more or less the main issues I worry about, since they deal with the future)

Liberal Democrats are the best on the environments, but greens and labour are not far behind.

Conservatives and UKIP are far behind. Very far.

I took the test and it came out with Liberal Democrat being 36%, Greens 21%, Conservatives 14%, Labour 14%, UKIP 14%.

From their manifesto:

Investing in our environment is investing in our future. We will defend and extend existing environmental protections. We will champion sustainable farming, food and fishing by investing in and promoting skills, technology, market access and innovation. The Conservatives broke their promise to be the greenest government ever. They have allowed fracking in national parks, evaded their responsibilities on air quality and cut the funding for flood defences. The future of our farming, food and fishing industries hangs in the balance, to be used as leverage in Brexit negotiations. Only a Labour government will prioritise a sustainable, long-term future for our farming, fishing and food industries, fund robust flood resilience, invest in rural and coastal communities, and guarantee the protection and advancement of environmental quality standards. The Conservatives’ threatened ‘bonfire of red tape’ is a threat to our environmental protections and to the quality of our lives. Their record on combating climate change and environmental damage has been one of inaction and broken promises. The balance needs resetting: our air is killing us, our farms face an uncertain future, our fish stocks are collapsing, our oceans are used as dumping grounds, and our forests, green belt, national parks, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Sites of Special Scientific Interest are all under threat. Labour will introduce a new Clean Air Act to deal with the Conservative legacy of illegal air quality. We will safeguard habitats and species in the ‘blue belts’ of the seas and oceans surrounding our island. We will set guiding targets for plastic bottle deposit schemes, working with food manufacturers and retailers to reduce waste. We will protect our bees by prohibiting neonicotinoids as soon as our EU relationship allows us to do so. We will work with farmers and foresters to plant a million trees of native species to promote biodiversity and better flood management. Unlike the Conservatives who attempted to privatise our forests, Labour will keep them in public hands. Our stewardship of the environment needs to be founded on sound principles and based on scientific assessments. We will establish a science innovation fund, working with farmers and fisheries, that will include support for our small scale fishing fleet.

It took me a long while to copy that out as I find it very hard to copy out from a PDF. I can not be persuaded to publish the other relevant passages from it, so I will instead give you the link to the manifesto here: http://www.labour.org.uk/page/-/Images/manifesto-2017/labour-manifesto-2017.pdf

The UK has the world’s oldest nuclear industry, and nuclear will continue to be part of the UK energy supply. We will support further nuclear projects and protect nuclear workers’ jobs and pensions. There are considerable opportunities for nuclear power and decommissioning both internationally and domestically.
Sounds like they're reasonably pro-nuclear. I'm concerned about their anti-pesticide position with respect to bees; the bigger issue is over-harvesting honey.

Hi. Are you British? If so, can I count on you to vote for Labour?

If I am British and if I vote, then you can probably count on said vote. It looks like the least bad option as far as I can tell.
