I hope that this is true. We need a one world government. We must get rid of all these national barriers that do nothing but divide us and come together as it will ultimately mean that we are united.

Here is one conspiracy theory about conspiracy theories: It is those actually at the top who are promoting them.

The reason they want you to believe there is a communist Illuminati plotting for a one world government, is to make you opposed to socialism and to a one world government which are the only way to free humanity.

The reason they want you to believe that there is a global depopulation program is to get you to reproduce, you think you are "rebelling" by doing so, but you are really just helping the capitalist cause and contributing to overpopulation.

The reason they want you to believe that man-made climate change is a myth is so that you will allow them to burn fossil fuels so that they benefit from the money while the earth suffers.

The reason they want you to believe that the Jews run the world and that they are promoting race-mixing and homosexuality to destroy the white race, is in an attempt to divide us by our race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. because when we are divided, we are easier to control.

The reason they want you to believe that the moon landing is fake is so that you will deny the progress of science. In the same way that they want you to believe that GMO's and vaccines are evil, it is so that science cannot progress and will stagnate, as it is ultimately in opposition to capitalism (hence why so many scientists are socialists: Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking, Marie Curie, Nikola Tesla, etc.)

The reason they want you to believe that the government is behind false flags (9/11, Sandy Hook, etc.), and is producing chemtrails in the air to control you, is so that you will believe that they are an omnipotent behemoth, which cannot be defeated, so that you will live in fear. When in fact, if the proletariat are united, the capitalists that enslave us would be overthrown within seconds.

I should point out that I have no evidence to prove any of this. However, it seems a perfectly viable hypothesis to me.

Zzzzz make an interesting point. (Intentionally or not)

A large subset of conspiracy theorist are just trolling to mess with the masses. Other then buy into the bullshit.

But of course, it doesn't help when some conspiracies "theories" end up being actual conspiracies.

Can you give some examples? The only I know is the Trump-Russia thing.

Most actual exciting conspiracies go from unknown to historical fact with people in jail pretty quickly; like operation snow white.
Others are pretty banal, like corporate price fixing and embezzlement.

There are transparent problems in the public space, which amount to conflicts of interest, but we can only speculate on motivation. That's hardly on the level of aliens. The grand conpiracies (more than a couple people) are prone to falling apart quickly:

It's why terrorist attacks are so rarely successful too. That's a good thing.

I wasn't referring to current theories necessarily. https://www.cdc.gov/tuskegee/timeline.htm https://www.cia.gov/library/readingroom/search/site/mk%2520ultra https://nsa.gov1.info/data/ (this one should be scary just because of the first line of the home page. I'm likely on a "list" now... ) https://www.cia.gov/library/center-for-the-study-of-intelligence/csi-publications/csi-studies/studies/vol-58-no-3/operation-paperclip-the-secret-intelligence-program-to-bring-nazi-scientists-to-america.html

I think all but one of these are directly from the CIA page. And they all seemed crazy at the time.

But of course our gov'ment wouldn't do anything like these again.

Were conspiracy theorists at the time speculating about them?
These sound like government intelligence operations, basically, not nefarious plots.

Is there anything wrong with any of them?

Oh haha, you already linked to MKULTRA. :P

Was it wrong? Well, they illegally gave people drugs and abused them to fck up their minds so they'd be susceptible to mind control. Soooo...
The CIA then tried to destroy all records of this operation, so clearly they knew it was wrong.

But, was it a conspiracy theory? In order to qualify as a conspiracy theory it should be regarded as such before it's discovered by the media or law enforcement.

I don't see the relevance.

If the government does covert and unethical operations that we discover, speculating about other covert and unethical operations can make sense. I don't believe in conspiracy theories like that Bush did 9/11 or anything like that, but we shouldn't just blindly accept "official" reasons for certain actions by the government, because the government has a record of lying to protect itself.

^Also, there was substantial speculation about the actions of the NSA before Snowden's leak.
