Re: Peanut Butter- Bug Parts?
All ground/processed food contains pieces of bugs and rodents, because they get into things and then get processed with the food.
Naturally the producers try to prevent this as much as they can, but it's not always possible.
We're talking about very small amounts of accidental contamination though. Mostly beetles, larvae, and rodent feces and hair.

I read that there are 30 insect parts per 100 grams. We're talking about very small amounts of accidental contamination though. Mostly beetles, larvae, and rodent feces and hair.
Update- Parts could be really small though. But still, ick.

It is ground up very fine, it is a paste; they wouldn't even likely be visible except under a microscope.EquALLity wrote: I read that there are 30 insect parts per 100 grams.

Not sure where you got 30 though.

Eh, ok. But that still adds up.It is ground up very fine, it is a paste; they wouldn't even likely be visible except under a microscope.
I actually got it from an Instagram post on some vegan account, but after looking into it just now I found this-Not sure where you got 30 though.

Crushed oregano has on average 300 fragments per 10 grams?
So for one gram, 30 fragments?
8 oz. of golden raisins have 10 whole insects and 35 bug eggs?
What the fffffffffffffff
Here's a picture of the bug that lays those eggs. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt ... sASPyYHIDQ

..How old are you that you're just now learning that bugs are on and in everything?EquALLity wrote: 8 oz. of golden raisins have 10 whole insects and 35 bug eggs?

Your body is also covered in bugs. The air is filled with little creepy crawly things.
Even bugs have bugs on them.
Note the mites crawling around on this ant's head:

How shocking!!1 I don't like the idea of eating 10 entire bugs by eating some golden raisins (which I don't eat anyway, but that wasn't the point)...How old are you that you're just now learning that bugs are on and in everything?

I could have gotten over peanut butter I guess. There are just microscopic parts in there.
But you fixate on the disgust at eating 10 bugs? How is that shocking at all?
Also, the "What the ffffffffff" part was also just a humorous way of expressing that I thought the bugs in there were gross.
I'm not *just* learning that bugs are everywhere. I know that there are tiny bugs on rugs and in your eyes etc., but they are so small and insignificant. I'm also not EATING them. If I am by breathing in bugs through the air or something, breathing is unavoidable.
And you list these things as if I'm supposed to go, "Oh my god! Ew ew ew ew ew bugssssssss!"
Because I'm just a flailing seven-year-old, right?

I don't know what you're talking about. You can be shocked if you want I suppose.EquALLity wrote: But you fixate on the disgust at eating 10 bugs? How is that shocking at all?

You can't avoid eating either.
No... that's what I think you should not do. Bugs are everywhere, you can't avoid them, don't worry about it.EquALLity wrote:And you list these things as if I'm supposed to go, "Oh my god! Ew ew ew ew ew bugssssssss!"
I didn't know you were seven. Anyway, I didn't say you were flailing or anything.EquALLity wrote:Because I'm just a flailing seven-year-old, right?
I just find it odd that this is news.

I was talking about the shocked face, but you can go on like you didn't make it.I don't know what you're talking about. You can be shocked if you want I suppose.
No, but you can avoid eating things with a lot of bugs.If there are bugs in the rug, and in your eyes, and in the air, why wouldn't there be bugs on your food?

I actually don't know if you are trolling when you act like you took that seriously.I didn't know you were seven. Anyway, I didn't say you were flailing or anything.
I just find it odd that this is news.
I'm going with trolling.

It's just a picture of a face with bug eyes. Bug, hm.
Like I said, I find it odd that this is news.
Usually this stuff goes around in grade school and everybody is grossed out, then we get over it.
The healthiest foods tend to be covered in insect eggs, and tiny bugs of all sorts.EquALLity wrote: No, but you can avoid eating things with a lot of bugs.
I'm not so sure it's useful to arrange your diet to minimize consumption of bugs. If even possible, since they're pretty evenly distributed on things.
