I was thinking about the Chiropractor post earlier and had to laugh at some of the things that I have seen pedaled as miracle cures. Here is one of my favorites.
"You place your feet in a bowl of water to which a bit of salt has been added. A small electric current is passed between two electrodes immersed in the water, which soon becomes discolored. The color, of course, comes from electrolytic corrosion of the metal electrodes."

Wow.
I've seen worse. That's actually a pretty clever deception. There are other things, like those magic stickers that are supposed to stop "dangerous cell phone radiation" (not actually dangerous) which don't even have tricks like that to visually support them, but people buy into them.
At least people aren't drinking radioactive water anymore, right? Although that doesn't seem like much progress.
