I have a strong hatred for these and commend governments who have made them illegal. It is a big problem where I live where close living quarters, firecrackers, and an excessive amount of dogs combine to cause big problems. The vets' clinics have been full of dogs who have jumped off balconies, ran out in front of cars etc. in a state of panic. Not to mention the environmental damage done by fireworks. I strongly believe laser shows is the way of the future.

Or thousands of computer coordinated lighted mini-drones. Perhaps a combination.

They are illegal where I live now, but before I moved here they were available on every street near the 4th of July and New Years. I still have hearing loss in one ear from a close encounter with a high powered/small wicked explosive.

My partner's dog used to be terrified of them as a puppy, but once he grew up and achieved his Alpha-male mentality, he just snarls and barks at them like he wants to fight.

I don't think they should be illegal. A lightning storm can cause the same effects as a twice a year fireworks show. Except with fireworks, you know when they are happening, and can take precautions if you have a sensitive animal.
