Do you believe the moon landing was faked?

Do you believe the moon landing was faked?

I don't.

Here is a good video about why the moon landing was not faked: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhp-FTYSGe8

If you believe the moon landing was faked, why???

My great grandmother believed the moon landing was faked. But I can forgive her. She had a second grade education (if that) and never owned a single book except the Bible.

I know our resident flat-Earther thought it was faked until I convinced him the Earth wasn't flat. Not sure if his opinion on the moon landing changed, though.

I can understand why some people think it was, as cold war propaganda. It would still have to be a pretty huge conspiracy, though. I don't think things like that are possible given humanity's general inability to keep secrets.

Interesting note, many flat-Earthers are actually just trolling. A few have said they do it just to prove you can argue any point, regardless of how implausible.

Sadly, many are serious, and believe the "theory" due to some obscure passage in a certain holy book. :geek:

To be totally honest, for years I thought the entire thing was just a joke (kinda like the Flying Spaghetti Monster). It was hard for me to believe that ANYONE with a basic education could honestly believe in a flat earth. Then I saw Tim Schieff talking about it and realized that, yeah...some people really should just stick to what they're good at. I'll bet there are people who sincerely believe in the FSM, too.

I wanted to start a thread and look! Someone beat me to the punch. I find it strange tho that there's only 6 votes in the poll in two months. I wish more people would dare to vote.

I actually looked at the hard evidence. You know, people hear news and accept them for reality without any need to check. You stumble upon one or two photos they give you on the cover and well obviously, must be true. There's a picture to prove it!

Now, if you can find 15 minutes in your busy lives, I invite you to take a look at the actual footage from the Moon (or so they say), an excerpt from the Apollo 11 press conference and a bunch of relevant photos "from the Moon":

This is a hilarious video of the Apollo 17 takeoff from the Moon (fast-forward to 2:50 if you can't sit still for three minutes):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sj6a0Wrrh1g

This is a press conference of the Apollo 11 (watching the very beginning shall suffice, if you ever noticed someone lie in your life. However, if you have an hour-and-a-half to devote to the most sensational press conference ever held, you should watch it whole. What could possibly beat this? This is a first-hand account of man walking on the Moon!):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSZX3mW7Du4

These are virtually all of the pictures that were allegedly actually taken ON the Moon that are available on nasa.gov. I have filtered out (I hope) all non-moon pics already. Now, if you can take a look at all these pictures (c'mon this is not just some pictures, this is a unique achievment in human history, take a moment! I bet none of you have seen all of these) with the question:
Does this look real or does this look fake?

Only then does it qualify you to answer the question OP is asking in the poll.

Vegans should have a slight edge here, knowing that governments DO lie on purpose. Shouldn't be so difficult to allow that if they have lied about meat, dairy and eggs, they might have lied about other things too.
Disclaimer: To discuss beyond this point is useless. Hope you don't ban me for "not responding properly to criticism" which will no doubt ensue. I have nothing more to say. Especially not to those that push this lie on purpose and to whom no amount of evidence could possibly do.

I dunno, they look legit to me.
I mean, I've seen almost all of those pictures before, so maybe I'm just too stupid to comprehend the fact that these are fake. Can you please explain it to me?

But about that other thing you said

This is the kind of shit you don't say or act upon if you don't want to get banned.

Having amateurs look at photos serve zero purpose. The argument can be solved with some basic reasoning.

Why would the U.S. government fake it? We know they had the money and the know how?
If they did fake it, why have none of the thousands of people involved in the project blown a whistle yet?
If they did risk faking it, why would they not take better care when making the photos/videos?
If they did fake it, why would they decide to give away fake rocks to Holland?
Where did that huge amount of money go?
If they did fake it, why did Gus Grissom and the other astronauts die?

They all look real to me. However, I don't think that it really matters if it looks real or fake at all. Plenty of things can look fake but actually be real.

For instance, look at this photograph:

https://blazepress.com/.image/c_limit%2Ccs_srgb%2Cq_80%2Cw_640/MTI4OTg5NzIxMjAzMzQ4NzU0/photos-you-will-hardly-believe-are-real-11.webp

This photograph appears to have been edited so that the flower is the only thing that is in colour, while the rest is grey scale. However, it is a full colour photograph taken after the eruption of a volcano named Mount Sinabung in Indonesia.

How could they have faked the moon landing with such limited technology at the time? They would have needed so many lasers of so many different colours and they only even had red lasers at the time! Surely it would have been easier to go to the moon. And yes, governments do lie, but how could they have gotten their Soviet rivals to claim that the moon landing was real? It would be like Trump expecting the DPRK to back up his lies!

The Forum Rules wrote:1. This is a discussion forum. Please come here willing to discuss. This isn't a place to lecture, and then refuse to address others' rational arguments or even answer others' questions. Discussion is founded upon logic, if you don't accept basic logic as valid, there's really nothing for you to do here except lecture, and this isn't the place for it. Again: This is a discussion forum.
I am not lecturing. I gave my opinion. There's a difference. You are free to believe what you desire. I have nothing more to offer than to flog a dead horse. You guys have heard my arguments and you have your opinion, I have mine.

Why care to say they look real if it doesn't matter to you? That's why I linked 40 photos. I agree that if one or two looked fake this would not mean the whole event is fake. But if it's more, it should tell you something. And boy I have a hard time finding a few that actually look convincing enough.

You grossly mislead. It matters more than anything else. Hard evidence is the only thing one should base their judgment on. A court of law does not (or should not at least) rely on speculation but instead on hard evidence. Speculation doesn't matter. I am certain any attempt to answer your speculative questions would not satisfy you. Btw, you don't even need to know the answers to your questions to call bullshit on the moon landing footage being fake. Just because you don't know all the why's doesn't mean you can't call bullshit. To give an analogy:
Emperor's new clothes
Some questions for you Jebus:
Why have the tailors faked the clothes when they had the money and the know how to make real ones?
If they did fake it, why have none of the thousands of people looking at the naked emperor blown a whistle yet?
If they did risk faking it, why would they not take better care making sure the scam will not be blown to pieces by a child?
If they did fake it, why would they decide to sell some of their fake clothes to Holland?
Where did that huge amount of money for the clothes go?
If they did fake it, why did some of the country's tailors die?

Can you see now that the questions are irrelevant? Otherwise I'm looking forward to your answers :) All that matters is that the Emperor is visibly naked. Hard evidence right before you. If you don't see the elephant in the room I can't help you.
