Which world leader do you most admire?

Post by Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz »

I've asked this question before, but I'm asking it again to see if people's answers might have changed recently due to new developments.

If anybody's wondering why Merkel's called "Jamaica Woman", it is because after the recent election in Germany, she is expected to form a "Jamaica Coalition" with the Green Party and Free Democratic Party. It is called a "Jamaica Coalition" because of the colours of the parties being the same as Jamaica's flag: Black (CDU), Yellow (FDP) and Green (The Green Party, obviously). I couldn't think of a better nickname. I'm quite proud of coming up with "Blunder Woman" for Theresa May though.

Are you asking why I chose the nicknames I did?

If not, please get back to me.

If so, it's just a joke based on Trump's nickname for Kim Jong-un - Rocket Man.

Rocket Man - Kim Jong-un has launched missiles
Orange Man - Donald Trump has a fake tan which makes him appear orange
Hacker Man - Vladimir Putin is the President of Russia which is suspected to have hacked Hillary Clinton's emails amongst other things
Blunder Woman - Theresa May has made many blunders since assuming office as Prime Minister, most notably calling a snap election to increase her majority which led to her actually losing a majority and having to get the Democratic Unionist Party to prop up her government as confidence and supply
Messiah Complex Man - Emmanuel Macron has a massive ego and portrays himself relentlessly as France's saviour, his ego is so big that his party is called "En Marche!" so that its initials are the same as his
Pseudoprogressive Man - Justin Trudeau loves to portray himself as a progressive but his actions (such as backing new pipelines in Canada) show clearly that he is no such thing
Reasonable Man - Although Moon Jae-in has recently been building up south Korea's nuclear weapons capabilities, he is still as reasonable president who appears willing to be diplomatic with the DPRK and not to toe Trump's line
Gas Man - Bashar al-Assad has probably used chemical weapons on his own people
Jamaica Woman - After the recent election in Germany, Angela Merkel is expected to form a "Jamaica Coalition" with the Green Party and Free Democratic Party; It is called a "Jamaica Coalition" because of the colours of the parties being the same as Jamaica's flag: Black (CDU), Yellow (FDP) and Green (The Green Party, obviously)

I hope that this information is helpful

Hm, very interesting list.
Why are William Henry Harrison and James Abram Garfield in the middle? Historians generally forgo ranking them due to their short presidencies (especially the former).
I can see why Jackson is near the bottom, what with him approving the removal of the Natives and all that.
Why is Truman also near the middle? Did you disagree with his decision to drop the bombs on Japan?
Polk is generally regarded as being a good president, why is he near the bottom quartile? Is it due to the war with Mehico?
How did you decide who is on top and who is on the bottom for this list?
Everything else seems to be standard, though.

These presidents were chosen based on my own opinions of them. FDR is ranked the most highly due to his progressive economic policies and for his invaluable contributions in WW2. Pierce is at the bottom due to his intense pro-slavery policies among other things

Harrison and Garfield are in the middle because there is very little about them and I know very little about them. I am basing it off of some of their most notable contributions and the ideologies of their political parties at the time.

I agree with Truman's decision to drop the bombs on Japan as although many innocents were killed, as a utilitarian, I believe it was right as many more would have died had the bomb not been dropped. What I do not like about Truman is mainly his involvement in the Korean war.

I confess that I do not know much about Polk. He is only towards the bottom due to the fact that he was a Democrat, which at the time was a right-wing pro-slavery party.

I think what many might also find surprising is my inclusion of Grant on the top 10 when he is usually considered one of the worst presidents in American history. I disagree with this characterization as he was an invaluable president in regards to civil rights.
