No worries, no one here should feel sorry about not participating in this thread frequently, there're obviously more important things which need to be prioritized and it can be difficult to find songs which you feel really positive about sharing. On that last note I wrote, there's probably a lot of music you know which I still don't know, your latest song being a great example. Feel free to share anything non-novelty even if you think it's likely that many have heard the song. This thread is also to gauge people's tastes, so seeing what they think of known songs could help you find them better unknown-to-them songs.

On your song. I like the playful guitar playing, it seems to cover a number of styles too. The verses with the vocals sound very reggae/ska(?) in a nice way but the beginning was very bluesy and almost seemed like southern rock. The acoustic guitar is nicely incorporated into the mix with the electrics. The drums have their moments too. The singing of the title of the track is almost like pure classic rock or prog-rock in tonal style. Really nice/fun jamming towards the end. The bass has a cool forefront moment. The keys/piano are nicely incorporated. The guitars are the main highlight though at the end, but everything else really spices it up that much more.

Overall it was a very solid classic rock song which was dynamic and varied. Very lively and entertaining. 8/10

To let this thread better play itself out in how it's intended, after someone reviews my song, I will hold back to let another person review the person's song, whom reviewed mine. I imagine it's not as fun as it could be, given that it's often been me alternating with someone else a lot of the time with only a bit of others reviewing others songs.

The irony of this song (and I appreciate Lonely Island on a sliding scale depending on my alcoholic consumption that day), is that it had the potential to be a great song, but they seemed to run out of ideas by the second chorus, and starting throwing darts at an open dictionary to choose the rest of the lyrics.

3/10 sober, 5 1/2 after 3 drinks.

Sometimes at first I couldn't tell if it was serious or a parody. Then I realized it was kinda serious but more about having fun, so not very serious. Really not my thing, but it wasn't offensive either, I can see it being catchy and if you're into that subculture I could see liking it as it's about those things. I could also see liking it for just how lighthearted it is. Kinda charming in a hillbilly like way, lol. I think what I disliked or found lacking in the song was the tone of the autotuned vocals being grating to me, and the general style having a repetitive backing track and not a lot of interesting structure to the song. The country instruments in the backing track were interesting at least as far as backing tracks to rap goes, though. 3/10

Cornbread and collards y'all. ;)

All in all, not a terrible song, but it reminded me of "Eye of the Tiger". Power ballad with good instrumentals but the lyrics really didn't grab me. This seemed like a song I wouldn't mind hearing in a bar, but would never play of my own accord. Nice band name though.

4/10

oldie but a goodie (No country or rap, just ole' fashioned heavy metal) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnKhsTXoKCI

Maybe it's because I haven't heard MoP in a long time, maybe it's because I'm listening to it for the first time with these high quality headphones I got in 2014, but it sounds sooo different to me. I almost thought I was listening to some alternate version and I'm still unsure. It's a good song. I like the melodic lead guitar in the middle, all the riffs are fresh and distinct even by todays standards, but I've really overplayed the song to the point where it does little for me emotionally. I might like it better were I to play it in Guitar Hero, then I could probably get into its rhythm. Due to the headphones, I guess, the song didn't seem as raw or powerful as I remembered. It seemed kinda dull at points but I think I need to give it more chances again when I'm in different moods and with different speakers. I caught some of the tones of guitars better thanks to my headphones so at least that was a plus, especially for the melodic leads in the middle. It was never my favourite Metallica song, but it's really unique and a solid classic. 7/10 for current enjoyment, could be 8/10 if I felt it as I used to.

Not speaking German, I have to go on strictly the instrumentals. (I enjoyed Du Hast despite not being able to interpret it, but at the time I had a friend fluent in German who translated, and I loved it even more)

The music was a delicately balanced blend of soft, almost classical music (which I also appreciate), and then progressed rather seamlessly into a hard core assault of guitar and drums, followed by another slowing down, then going back into full audio assault.

The only thing I was disappointed about (besides not being able to translate the lyrics) was that if felt like the ending should have moved back up to the hard core. (Of course I may be missing something based on lyrics which would explain the gentle fade) Despite my linguistical ignorance, it definitely made an emotional impact you could mostly understand despite the language barrier.

6.5/10 (would likely be higher if the lyrics were translated)

Knot's song was lively and fun. Very groovy, but I found the tone of the melodic guitar leads didn't mesh well with the tone of the groovy riffs. I also didn't really like the kinda -core like vocals, but they weren't bad. The riffs were pretty good but not exceptional. 6.5/10

If EquALLity ninjas me I'll also review her song.

Here's a groovy metal song I prefer.
