Here's some 00's music I like.[/clickylink]
It wasn't terrible, but it seemed liked heavy just to be heavy. Repetitive, and leaning towards "Lets make our lyrics undecipherable then act like that was the point! ". 4-10

This is an obscureish band, and I recommend anyone who has the slightest interest check their other songs. Satirical genius/ Poe's law... :?:

Many of the lyrics in that Melechesh song are intelligible to me by the way. You must have made out the title of the song in the lyrics though, right? And obviously them screaming about Sumerian deities you've never heard of before wouldn't be recognizable or intelligible really even if they were clean singing it.

I can understand the repetitive remark, the songs individually are a bit repetetive, but the full album is a real trip that's fairly varied.

I never understand the "heavy just to be heavy" remarks. It's like the kind of telepathy metal elitists use when they say a band "sold out" for the sake of money/popularity. It just comes from you not understanding how people could like something you find too heavy, like how elitists don't understand that a band might want to make a stylistic change because they just want to play that new style. And, fyi, there is much heavier music than Melechesh.

As for your song, I'm not much of a fan of modern R&B or Pop, so this was doomed to fail for me from the start. The vocals are particularly annoying and the video is super cringy, though not in an awful way, but neither in a good way. It's just pure neutral cringe. It is funnier than some of Red's and Z...'s music vids, mostly due to the accent of the guy, but that's not a high bar to get over.

2/10

Were they actually trying to make a decent song? I can't decide if they are satirical geniuses or mundane amateurs. 3/10.

Here's some definite satire. Not a great song for kicking back, but a funny song relating to social commentary.

You just don't get that Wintersun song I guess, man. I get that it's a drawn out song, and the instruments are repetitive, but that's part of its charm and the vocals are the highlight. I don't know how anyone could dislike the chorus. But to each their own.

The song is worse than the last one. The beat and electronic elements are annoying as well as the vocals. The lyrical concept is funnier than the last one, so it evens out.

2/10

Here's a different Wintersun song.

The verses and chorus were mostly bland, generic and boring. It's decent as it's all performed competently. Then at 3:00 the solos/guitar leads bump it up to being a decent song with a good part. I'm not planning pn hearing it again, I doubt it'll grow on me like sone songs I initially find just decent. It would've been a 5/10, but it's now a 6/10 for the guitar near the end.

It has a very good rhythm, and was simultaneously very creepy and very sanguine. I spent a good couple of minutes trying to understand the words he was saying and then I realized that they were not in a language I could understand. The man has a very good singing voice though and it goes well with the music.

I know I let some almost novelty/joke songs slip through since the ban on them in this thread, but come on guys, these are obviously not permitted in my thread. If either of you do it again then I will completely ignore your posts in this thread and encourage every other member to do so as well for this thread. If you guys want a novelty song thread, then you can start one for yourselves.

The ban is now stricter. For example songs like what Psycho posted by The Rubberbandits are no longer permitted or anything like it like Weird Al.

At least you guys seem to be reviewing my songs to some degree when I post them, but this thread is for others to discover new, serious music that they'll hopefully like as well as getting to know what others think about different songs/bands/styles. It's a two-way-street.

Either my last song is the one to be reviewed by someone who's serious about this thread. Or Z... can pick a serious song for review.

Here's my song again. If Z... chooses an appropriate song, then their selection should supersede mine.

Sorry, I try to post those for Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz only. From now on when I respond to them, I'll post a song for him, and then I'll post an actual song.
So, while this song is pretty long, it's pretty badass and I really enjoy some of the slow riffs. As always, I have trouble understanding the vocals. 8.4/10
