Metallica - Fade to Black

One of my favourite Metallica songs. Great tension in that riff in the earlier part of the song, great acoustic guitar inclusion, good emotional vocal performance, strong bass, and great guitar leads. Then that awesome solo section, after that other awesome riff and guitar leads and more emotional vocal part. Super well rounded song.

8.5/10

One of my favourites.

Blind Guardian - Wheel Of Time

I like the Egyptian-ish style of the intro, unfortunately that theme is dropped as soon as the intro ends. The instrumental part from 1:25 to 1:50 is great. From 3:00 to 3:30 too. I think the vocals are pretty boring on this one, so I found myself waiting for the instrumental parts, being dissapointed whenever the guy starts singing. I'd say 6/10.

Something entirely different:

That was pretty catchy, and it reminded me of the Beatles. Something about it bothered me, though... :?

MGMT - Electrical Feel

I don't like the vocals, too much the type of indie pop/rock which I dislike. This kinda sounds like new wave too, not that that means anything good or bad, just a remark. I like the bass being more prominent in the middle and from then on. It's all decent stuff, but this isn't anything exciting for me. Okay, I do like the keys part that sounds like a reverby woodwind instrument for the outro and some more of what the bass did towards the end.

I really liked most of this song! It's a weirdly relaxed metal song, which I can very much appreciate. The guitar riff is very pleasant. I heavily dislike growling though, so that takes away quite a few points. 7/10.

Since I just pronounced it my favorite band, I'll drop some Avantasia here:

Avantasia - Farewell

Very consonant folky melody. When the other instruments come in the flute is nicely harmonized with the guitar. Very nice start. The vocals are a little too close to the type of power metal which I dislike. His his high scream was good and the chorus is better for his vocal. The woman's vocals are much better, it came nicely arranged being placed after the chorus. The male vocalist is talented but his tone and tune seems a little off for me. Nice part again with the flute and some string instruments. The solo sort of came out of nowhere. I don't like how it was just placed there with no sensible bridge leading up to it, but it was well preformed and I liked the melodies played therein. The chorus is alright. The vocalist's wailing over it for the end seems fitting, but his tone still seems off to me. Overall, some good folky parts, good female vocals, decent, chorus, somewhat shoddy arranging, and a good solo in itself.

7/10

Here's some other power metal I like.

The first three minutes of the song were okay. I think the instrumentals were good but the singer insisted on doing weird stuff with his voice that sounded off to me (at some parts it sounded like he was doing a mocking impression of himself). After that, it gets really good. I can't name the instrument, but they bring a non-guitar instrument in that sounds really good to me. Then the vocalist gets his act together and the final minute of the song is very enjoyable as a result. 6.66/10.

I could link 'The Number Of The Beast' now, but that'd be too easy.

Haha, no. I can't put my finger on it. It's something about the style.

The reason for the different vocals is because Kai Hansen from Gamma Ray does guest vocals on the song.

Apocalyptica - I Don't Care

The vocals remind me of Nickleback for some reason, maybe a bit more punky with the backing vocals. The inclusion of orchestral instruments were good for the climax but otherwise felt unneeded. I'm not really into this style, it's like simple hardrock with a small bit of good symphonic stuff, but it was nonetheless decent.
