Gay Rights is legal in Japan however not allowed to marry or adopt. This is not ideal but of course better than in the totalitarian regimes like Saudi-Arabia want to kill a gay person. A Liberal Democratic Party, the major Right-Wing Party, that is currently in power with Prime Minister Shinzō Abe is a party wanting to keep gay marriages illegal. Parties which support homosexual marriage are the Social Democratic Party and the Democratic Party. The Communist Party wants to oppose a same-sex marriage but supports civil unions.

What saddened me when I was living in Japan was representations of Homosexuals based upon stereotypes and mockery, such as the popular comedian Masaki Sumitani, who called himself "Razor Hard Gay" for comedy act. In his act, he performs sexual thrusts. He is actually a straight person. This sickened me because it is similar to black face in that it puts itself forward as comedy but relies itself on offensiveness. In the case of black face, it stereotypes blacks as fools and in the case of Hard Gay, it stereotypes gays as perverts.

There aren't any famous gays from Japan that I know of, however I am a bisexual, does that count?

I supported Gay Rights in Japan and would always be vocal about it, even though there were some homophobes, I did not care then and I do not care now. Whatever you are, whether you are a Straight Person, Gay, Bisexual or Asexual, you should be proud and say it wherever you are, even if you know you could die, because even if you die, you will raise awareness and start a greater movement. I will always keep my battle cry: GAY PRIDE WORLDWIDE! IN JAPAN! IN UK! IN USA! IN SAUDI-ARABIA! IN FRANCE! IN IRAQ! IN NORTH KOREA! IN AFGHANISTAN! IN SWEDEN! IN IRELAND! IN IRAN! IN SYRIA! IN CHINA! IN GERMANY! IN ISRAEL! IN PALESTINE! IN INDIA! IN TURKEY! IN SOUTH KOREA! IN HUNGARY! IN RUSSIA! IN SWITZERLAND! ON THE MOON!! EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
